Yorkie obsession....feelings hurt

I never knew a that a little animal could tug so hard at my heart before I brough home little Bailey. My husband shakes his head and smiles at me several times a day. He loves how happy she makes me. My kids tell me I'm not right. She has dress and jewlery for her hair.

This is such a nice post, and your parents sound like they are very special. It's wonderful that they have had you and your siblings and now their new babies to bring them such love and joy.

Awww...that is nice to know. I am both a human kid mom & a puppy mom -- there are MANY ways they are so similar. I think I made a mistake thinking they were not so alike a few years ago. But, the longer I have them, the more I see the similarities. When you have more than one dog, you start seeing their interactions as so close to human children, it is amazing too! My mom & dad had six kids, now they have six dogs. They see all of us kids in those dogs. They haven't said directly, but I know which one reminds them of me. I am very thankful they have their pups -- I think they are such nurturing people, they cannot imagine a life without little ones to care for.

I understand how you feel...My mother-n-law made a comment about 3 weeks ago that I, "always bring that raggedy dog everywhere".... I was pissed

I know some people don't get it and never will but I didn't appreciate her opinion and I let her know it too. I 4 skin kids and I tell everybody that Fancy is our 5th kid. She goes everywhere and I do mean everywhere - from family holidays/birthday parties, to the mall, grocery store, to the hair salon, I even take Fancy to my daughter's gymnastics meets. Heck, Fancy has been to a Scentsy and Mary Kay party and Fancy wears clothes and has bows in her hair just like my 2 other daughters!!!

To many, they are just dogs. It's because they don't understand unconditional love they provide. My family and my bf's family have said similar things your son said, but in a more subtle way. My uncle told me that I'm a slave to my dogs...and that they are JUST dogs...I started explaining to him how it's NOT true. I told him that they were my babies and that I'm their mommy so I'm not a slave. My bf's cousin was joking about how every time she sees him, there's more dogs. hmm...maybe it's just me? Even my bf is telling me no more dogs...

YES! You ARE normal. There are some in this world that God has chosen to impart a profound love of animals...we are some of those people. Either you are an animal person, or you aren't. I am SO glad that I am! When I was little, I wanted to be a vet because I loved animals SO MUCH and wanted to help them.

Maybe you can tell your son this and maybe he will understand...
