![]() To answer your other question, yes, this is a site for people who love Yorkies. The health and well being of the dogs, not the feelings of the owners, is generally everyones main concern. The people who posted strongly did so out of concern for your girl and your situation, nothing more. One can only be "judged" based on the information the post and make available. If there are certain aspects of one's life or current situation that they don't want up for discussion, then it's best to keep it to oneself.

| Glad all went well for you. I a'm off to the vets office today to go and have my baby girl Chloe spayed. The clinic I am taking her to does the surgery by laser, less trauma to the small breeds, faster recovery time, and I can pick her up today. You at least have a spay/nueter program, for me it will cost $300.00 + so thats a hefty chunk but I do not want puppies. |

| I may have miss read the post before mine, but it sounds like Elaine is being alittle to judging in this matter, its like she is saying " If you cant afford to get your pup fixed a.s.a.p before you bring him or her home then you should not buy your yorkie" I think it all takes time and money yes, but now its up to you to fix it and deal with it, and be a little more careful with the whole prgos thing next time. If you dont plan on havin pups then yes one of the yorkies needs to be fixed cause it will happen again. But if you do want pups in the future then you have to be very careful and deal with whatever happens.

Seriously, if someone is having trouble providing the care that ONE dog needs, then why add another one? At least, I think that is the point that some are getting at. Would you get a dog on Monday if you knew you couldn't afford to buy him food until Friday? Last edited by BamaFan121s; 09-21-2010 at 07:47 AM.

| Like I said I may have miss READ the post, and I did I didnt know she already had a 2yr yorkie and a boy at that, and I do agree with the fact that she should have got one of the dogs fixed before she went and bought a female cause its just obvious sooner or later they were gonna end up doin the doggie dog dance when she came in heat. And if she wanted pups from them later in life she should have been doing more monitoring going on. So sorry for the miss read post.

It seems there's also been the assumption she wanted the dog spayed/neutered. She may have planned to do breeding later and then this happened (too early). When I was arranging to have one of my YOrkies spayed, the vet said to wait as she was a quality Yorkie and once spayed it cannot be undone --- wait awhile and see if you want to breed her because you can always have them fixed later if you decided not to - he said that was part of the problem: people NOT breeding quality Yorkies and this was the type that should be bred. And he is all about spaying dogs. The other Yorkie we have (clearly not "quality" in any thing but per exceptional sweet personality and gentle nature) we want fixed, vet said to wait until after her first heat...to which she didn't have until a couple weeks ago (at 14+ months!!!) We about given up on her and it came suddenly and subtly - could have missed it and I could see if one had a male dog in the house it could happen (yes, in such a case I would have been very vigil regarding any potential signs of a heat coming - we have no male, so wasn't too much of a concern - but I wouldn't even let my mom bring her 6 month old male puppy when she visited for fear something unexpected could happen). Anyway, not every one runs out and has their animals fixed...best to wait and see if they are quality and good for breeding "just in case"...because we all know one can go out and buy a Yorkie with the best lineage and it end up not being high quality for breeding and then another Yorkie from a so-so line ends up with perfect conformation, coloring, etc... Spay early if you never intend to breed...hesitate in case you do - be careful in the mean time. Your dog, your choice.

Also, there is a lot more to whether one should or should not breed their dog besides simply it being a "quality Yorkie." IMO, chances are if the dog was acquired from a breeder that didn't have a s/n agreement or other arrangement to protect a nice line, then it's not likely a dog of a 'quality' that should be bred to begin with. | Oh well it dont matter live and learn. Things happen and now she has to deal with it. Ok Get off her back. She got a female to be with the male she had right so she probably wanted to mate them and have pups. It just happen a little to soon. Now she has to deal with it, Im sure her pups will be loved either way. If its a good thing for the owner then Im happy for you if not then Im sorry. But either way Im done with this subject. convo.
