				   | After a really rough night of soft whimpering that broke my heart - Fizz is finally on the mend after being spayed. I knew that all was well when she came lumbering through the kitchen (groggy and nowhere near a straight line) in pursuit of the cat's tail. Seeing those trusting, sad little eyes looking up at me from the cone was heartbreaking. A few days before the operation my husband took her to the groomers and they cut her hair so short it made her look even more vulnerable. Just when I think it isn't possible to love her more...

				   | She is so adorable in that picture. I can certainly understand what you mean when you say just when you think you couldn't love her more...I hope she has a speedy recovery and can get rid of the dreaded cone very soon!

				   | Although Fizz is not quite as active as usual - her tail popped back up into the 'proud' position today, so she is definitely on the mend. I'll be so happy to get the cone of shame off, which I agree is pretty pitiful. Thank you everyone for your support and kind words!

				   | Do you really need the cone? When my Tessa was spayed I did not use a cone and she had no problems with her incision. She left it alone. |

				   | I wish we didn't need the cone, but before we put it on, she immediately went for her incisions and tried to bite and scratch at it. We tried taking it off for short periods (when she was on our lap or beside us napping) but she would still try to bite at the incision. The vet warned us of the dangers of infection - and I'm just too afraid to risk it! It's now day 3, and I believe we can take it off at day 5 depending on how well its healed.

				   | I know - that's the part that I find so heartbreaking. Now every time she scratches at the cone - one of us will scratch her ears for her or give her a puppy massage to take her mind off the dreaded cone.
