| Donating YT 1000 Club Member | The pups were to big for her. They are waiting to see how she progresses the pups squished her inside pretty good so she is having trouble with her bowels and bladder. My "Millie" was about 10 to 12 #'s and healthy till the last 2 weeks of her life. I have never bred any dog I've ever owned, I have no intrest in breeding. She was character, a smaller dog with a sense of humor and smart! We all still mention her and miss her. She passed away 2 yrs ago June 17th.

| I get so upset at the way some people treat dogs. They dismiss them as animals that don't have feelings. All of you and anyone else that has ever loved a pet knows that they do have feelings. I can tell when Boo is excited, sad, anxious, happy, bored...and any other emotion that I can feel. Most importantly, dogs feel love and hope. I don't know how anyone could look into their little dogs eyes and not see that. They think a dog isn't heartbroken when he or she is taken from it's home and the people they love. Boo boo is the best thing that ever happened to me, and I am thankful every day that I get to be his mom. I could never just hand him over and say that I just don't have time for him. When it comes to a living creature that you have committed to taking care of you make time. It especially makes me angry to hear someone say "oh, we just had a baby and don't have time to take care of a dog too" Seriously?! Do you give up your first child for adoption if you get pregnant again?! People really need to think as long and hard about getting a dog as they do about having a child. I know so many people who get dogs for all the wrong reasons. Some treat it as practice for having a baby, some get it because the puppy was just sooo cute they had to have it, some get it because their kids want a toy, and some just want to get a purebred dog because they want everyone to know they can afford to do so. It's not right. Don't get a german shepard if you don't want to deal with shedding...guess what? They shed! Find out if anyone in your family has allergies BEFORE you bring a dog home! Don't get a yorkie if you don't want to have to brush a dog everyday! TRY DOING SOME RESEARCH BEFORE YOU CHOOSE A DOG!!!! Sorry, I know I'm venting, but people really need to put some consideration into getting a dog so they don't end up having to get rid of it later because it doesn't fit their lifestyle. | Donating YT 1000 Club Member | One of my step brothers had to let his black lab go because of his son being allergic. The dog and child would not stay away from each other, and it wasn't the dogs dander or hair the child was allergic to, it was the dogs saliva. They were heart broken they never saw it coming and my step brother had the dog very well trained. He had show dogs and bred labs before the kids came along. The dogs he kept were no longer living by the time his son was born. He decided to get another dog when his son was about 2 yrs old. But every time the child touched anything the dog had licked, drooled on ate or drank out of he had a reaction. If the dog licked him it was really bad!

| That's why we got Benson. The previous owner's husband worked nights and Benson wouldn't leave him alone during the day while he was trying to sleep and would run when he opened the front door. They told us to come get him. Amazingly, once we started walking him daily, he didn't run anymore. He's such a companion to me. I do dialysis at home and he is so smart that when I'm just about through with treatment, he's usually telling me its time to get off. |

| Boo-Boo "Dismissing dogs as animals that don't have feelings" reminds me of years ago in England. We had our Yorkies (Penni and Tuppence), but we also had Lhasa's, we bred Lhasas at the time. When I was giving Hsun-Ni and Tzu-Hsi their baths I noticed "hot spots". We took them to our vet. Unfortunately he was on vacation and another vet was standing in for him. She asked when we noticed the hot spots. I told her it was when I was bathing them. She then proceeded to tell us that dogs do not need bathing, we should let them swim in the stream! Huh?? Excuuuse me? let them swim in the stream? there wasn't even a stream close to our home. Then, when she had Hsun-Ni on the table, my husband was close to him, and Hsun-Ni gave him a kiss. Then this vet said we should never let a dog lick our face. It wasn't healthy. She also told us that they did not have feelings and we shouldn't treat them like humans. We picked up the dogs and left telling the receptionist that we would pay for a vet visit when we saw a vet who loved animals. Receptionist said she understood as we were not the first to complain about this vet. We were so glad when our regular vet was back from his vacation. I wouldn't know what to do if I didn't get doggie kissies regularly!

| I have to agree....kisses are the best....and sometimes help get me through a really tough day!! BTW...anyone who would give away a dog because it wanted to be with them too much should never be allowed to own a pet!! Well, okay....maybe a fish....but that's all.

| People are so insensitive. I LOVE that my babies want to be with me all the time! The point of having a pet is the enjoy the company and love that they give!

That is absolutely one of the cruelest things a person can do to an animal. It's also why abandonment is considered animal cruelty in most states. It is much, much kinder to just take an animal to the shelter. At least it has a chance of being adopted, and even euthanasia is a much more humane way for an animal to die than starving, slowly dying from disease, being hit by a car, attacked by another animal or any other horrible death an animal use to being cared for by people can fall victim to.
