I know you are disappointed but I think you could look at this a different way, and more of a learning experience. What do you want? What are your goals? If you are interested in getting another dog, there are so many out there that will make a wonderful sister to Sadie, if you are interested in rescue, a great thing happened today, the dog was saved. It really hard to work in rescue, you get so attached, and constantly have to give a dog up. Maybe this was a test to see if you are strong enough to do this type of work? I hope this dog finds a great home, but I think getting to know the girls at the shelter might be a good idea, maybe they could call you if they happen to find a dog that they think is a good match?

well it may have been cancer, or possibly just a tumor, or even still she may just have an enlarged tit from having pups or something, but i picked her up and she had a large lump hanging from her tit. when my golden had that it was a tumor though i don't recall that one being cancerous. now the golden had never had pups so hers was just a tumor, this yorkie, who knows what it's been through.

dh and I have been back and forth about a second dog and with my working for a vet's office which enables us to afford vet bills even easier than before and also with me wanting to be a stay at home mom someday, we kinda decided that two little yorkies isn't that much more to live with. babies can come along just fine it's not like there's not enough room for us all. we have a big house, what's one more ?!?!

Rachel I totally feel for you right now and can hear your heart break! All I can say is there is some lucky beyond lucky pup out there that is going to have the unbelievable privilege of having you for a mom! Stay strong! That pup...the right one...is out there!!

Before I had any of mine I was turned down at a shelter for a little Yorkie/Silkie mix. My daughter was with me and she was just heartbroken. BUT~~~~it was soon after that I gave Pebbles a home then along came Doodlebug and out of nowhere came Bogey

I know it stinks that you had your heart set on this little girl but everything happens for a reason--you just don't know what that reason is right now.

too bad this happened I personally know how it feels when you want something so bad and cant have it but look at the bright side your hubby has given you the ok to add a new furbaby and there are so many in the shelter looking for a great mommy like you to love them up so i say head to the shelter and make someone and yourself very happy .......goodluck

I'm so sorry you had such a bad day. Someone on YT mentioned "getting to know" the shelter folks. Wow! I think that is such good advise. I'm not kidding. I would be making a batch of cupcakes and taking them by there. I would say "thanks for all your hard work". And then share with them what your qualifications are, as you have many.
In my business, I am in contact with many, many new parents as they welcome a newborn into their family and I hope you take this the way I mean for it to be received....pets are emotionally demoted when babies arrive. The first few years require so much undivided attention that you can only be spread so thin. I can tell from your post how much you care. You are in good company. But maybe, hopefully, this other woman can make the yorkie her baby. You know how Yorkies love to be THE baby.

I was actually there first technically when i called the night before and told them i was coming to get her just as soon as they were open and they called back in the morning and said she would be there and open at 2pm. i showed up at 2pm and they gave the dog to someone else....i think it's bull and i'm not changing my opinion.

as for feeling that this person wasn't the best home for the dog. i have my own reasons, but a person that works in a vet clinic, has their own home and has a yard fenced and has a yorkie already DOES make a better application for a good home than an apartment dweller with no previous dog owning experience and in MY experience rescue groups that are doing it for the dog's sake ALWAYS check references and make sure the BEST home wins out no matter what order the apps. come in.

This dog was in Animal Control, right? They operate much differently than rescue groups. They have a very high kill rate and I'm sure were delighted when someone showed up to fill out an application for the dog. They certainly weren't going to turn her down based upon a phone call from someone else the night before who might or might not show up.

I'd suggest working with a rescue group if you have decided to add another Yorkie to your family. Then you can be guaranteed your application will be evaluated on its merits, not the order it was submitted.

yea i'm working sorta with one that i know is very good. they come to our office for all their vet needs so i not only trust the rescue but i trust the vets the pups went to. i told them next yorkie that comes through is pretty much MINE but they very very rarely see toy breed dogs.
