| So i found this yorkie online at the local shelter and i called last night to let them know i was very interested in her and to call me back in the morning. They called and said they were open 2-5 today so i went there right at 2pm and walked in to look for her. They had her behind the counter and handed her right to me and i just totally felt it happen. she was perfect for us. she was totally mild tempered, beautiful sweet and would have made the right sister for Sadie. i asked the lady after about a few seconds how the process works and THEN after all that bonding she tells me this other lady next to me wanted to see her first. So i had to hand the pup over to her to look at thinking that this was crap...so then the animal control lady informs me that this lady was here first and had priority over me...EVEN THOUGH I CALLED LAST NIGHT!! She let her fill out an application and told me to wait to see what happened with the app. while i waited i asked to fill one out too thinking that the better application would prob. take priority...and working for a vet i knew i had the upper hand prob. well guess what!? the other lady had never owned a dog before, lived in an appartment and had to have the landlord called to verify she could even have it. it was 200 to keep her. and after all that the stupid animal control officer didn't even look at my application she GAVE that dog to the other lady!!! I'll tell you more about the dog too, she was filthy, timid, not fully potty trained, and had dirty dirty teeth (dental bills anyone!?) I was willing and able to take on that dog and the sky high bills at the vet's (discount at work). and they gave that poor dog away to this other woman.!?!?! i'm so upset i'm bawling like crazy, i called granny she told me i was silly for acting that way over a dog and had my priorities mixed up, then softened and realized i'm just a big animal lover with a super tender heart. i think she was mad cause i scared her to death she thought something really bad happened when i called at first. so anyways here i sit bawling and i really need comfort and reassurance now. i need hugs and lots of love and i need someone to lift me up a little. oh and anything you want to say about how stupid this whole thing was is fine too. |

| This is not what you want to hear right now I know.. but everything happens for a reason... what they did was totally wrong... but you will find the perfect dog for you and when you do you will realize why other dogs fell through along the way. I am sorry you are hurting right now

| Oh, I am so sorry Could you ask the shelter to keep your application handy in case this woman returns the pup? You know, she might when she has potty training issues, or vet bills. |

| I'm really sorry you are so disappointed but I am hoping that things work out wonderfully for the pup and the new home she has because your new pup is out there waiting for you to find him or her and when you do, everything is just going to work out perfectly and then please promise to come back on here and let us know that we were were right and that you are so happy with how things worked out! |

| ♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | So sorry you went through this, it must have been heart breaking handing over that pup once you realised she would have been perfect for your family. Like others have said the right one will come along and you will feel it in your heart just like I did when I found tias brother Olly. Good luck in your search. xx

Im so sorry that is just not right! She should have atleast looked over both applications and choose the best home for the dog. Instead of just whoever handed her the money first basically.

| that's the funniest part. i left after she told me the other lady was approved and i don't even know if the lady had the money or not. i'm sure she did at the time. but i have this terrible gut feeling that if that little girl has cancer like i suspect she does and has her first dental cleaning, this lady is going to have a cow!! if she even cares enough to take her to a vet. i can't believe that someone that's never owned a dog before can just walk into a shelter with no references and get a dog. it's better than them euthanizing the poor baby, but gosh when you have someone working for and with a vet standing there and knowingly give the dog to someone with no prior "yorkie" or dog knowledge...umm HELLO. does that make sense to anyone? |

| I'm sorry this happened to you. Something similiar happened to me just the other day. I love Pitbulls (sorry to those that don't), and wanted to give a rescue a home instead of getting a puppy. We'll I filled out the application, they checked it over, and said everything was fine, and they were sending the dog over for a meet and greet, so there I sat all excited. Well I get a call back saying that there had been another application in before mine that they forgot about, and the foster mom wanted to give it to her friend. She then said your second choice is still available. Well needless to say we said fine bring him over, and we'll see what happens. What happens is that we couldn't have wished for a better dog, so as someone else said I'm sure the right dog is out there for you. Keep your head up.

| Stay strong Rachel. It seems MUCH harder to rescue a dog than to just go and buy one, but think of the little one that you will be saving! You've got a good heart doing this. I'm curious, why do you think that yorkie has cancer?

Maybe it worked out for the best, then? It's good you filled out an application. That way, if the new owner returns her for some reason, they should contact you. | |
