| I think she has had him for about 6 months now. The really crazy thing is that they advertised on CRAIGSLIST! I was totally shocked when she told me that was how she found him. He's from a puppymill and was a foster for almost a year before they felt he could be adopted. She just loves the little guy to death.

| Same thing happened to me, but with the Humane Society. The first Yorkie I tried to adopt, there were 30 people in line all for her! (Sad) And the first at the door had been there 2 hours before opening. I've been a vet tech for over 20 years, but that doesn't really matter, so I learned. And the best home... I really think they look more at the negative things, and if nothing really rules them out, then they are considered. And it doesn't mean the biggest house and yard, or the prettiest. I think it means more is one the type of person that will bring the dog into their family and make them part of it as a family member, not just a dog that gets put in the yard and left there. Also, do wait, bc if this dog has that many problems, there's a good chance she just may be returned and you'll get a call. Especially because the woman knows you were there to adopt that dog, that way she won't feel as bad returning her. And I think all places that take in strays have their own set of rules and regulations. It would be nice if they were all the same... maybe sometime in the near future this could come into being. There were people trying to adopt a small dog at the HS that were turned down... the Mom was trying to adopt for her son (I guess he wouldn't be approved) but she was turned down bc she had adopted a Pit Bull two weeks before. They have a rule that they do not adopt small dogs into homes with Pit Bulls. Period. I overheard them arguing for almost a half hour about it. Just a note: Most all the dogs at the HS are listed as mixes... even the two dogs and a cat I adopted. They all had papers in their folders to verify they were purebreds though. And the First come first served thing, well, I don't know how else they would do it. I think alot of folks may leave an app there, and may change their mind. (I know you wouldn't, but some would). I guess the best thing to do, when adopting, is to learn the rules of each place you search, and be prepared to follow them, whether or not you think they are fair or not. They won't change the rules just for you, but a sympathetic clerk may bend a rule here and there if you are truly trying to comply. And my personnal motto: If it was meant to be, it will be. With this dog, it wasn't meant to be. Which tells me that God has another He plans for you to have, that may need your skills and knowledge more to have a good, long, happy life.
