| Went to the groomer and now my little Sophie is freezing... I am so frustrated right now. I took my 7.5 month old yorkie to the groomer on Sunday and asked them to shave her body and neaten up her head, beard and tail. She gets a little grumpy when hair covers her eyes, so as much as I want to be able to put bows and stuff in her hair, I can't get it long enough, and she rips the bows out when I try.. I knew she would be cold getting shaved in winter, but she was really messy looking and had paint all over her that we couldn't get out (she was naughty one night when my fiance and I were painting our bathroom..), but I bought her about 10 more sweater at Petsmart (they were on sale)....and know I can keep her body warm. Well, the groomer asked us what we wanted done with her face, beard and tail and we told them just just neaten up around her eyes, the beard (when she was spayed a couple of weeks ago, her sugar kept dropping so she was eating corn syrup at the vets office and at home and it was all over her beard, but nothing extreme), and we just said thin out the tail and keep it long. She asked us three times if we wanted those parts shaved and we said "absolutely not, just trimmed and neaten up" ... ...as I am sure you have guessed, we were called that she was ready and headed out to pick her up, and out came Sophie - the chihuahua former yorkie. She had been shaved from the tip of her nose to the tip of her tail... At first, I thought it was alright, so I paid (stupid me) and left. I wasn't happy but was afraid of confrontation. I am so frustrated right now. Her body is warm, but she keeps grunting and burying her head under the blanket/pillow/under a sock/with her paws and her ears are freezing. I knew I was having her body done, and have done it before and she was comfy ... but she keeps trying so hard to get her head warm, that it is ridiculous ... I would have NEVER shaved hr as short as they did and her entire body in the middle of winter. I was told it would be short, but she would be fine with a sweater...and she was before, but it seems without the hair on her head, she is freezing and she keeps hiding it under stuff. Sorry for the length, I am calling tomorrow and complaining. I don't expect anything, but they need to know that I am not happy and that I don't want that particular groomer doing it to her again. I attached a few pictures. The first two are her from last night, the third is how she usually looks after the groomer and the last one is from early January - she looked cute but I just wanted her crazy 'bed head' neatened up.. Oh and in case anyone is wondering about her colouring. She isn't a full yorkie - close, but not technically. Her mom is a 'purebred' Biewer and her dad is a yorkie-poo. But the last poodle anything mixed in that line was three generations ago, and it was a yorkie-poo female. I love her colouring and size (3.5 lbs) |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | She is adorable in all of the pics, but I do understand your frustration. I don't take my boys to groomers bc of many reasons - and your experience is one of them. I know there are excellent groomers out there...but I was never lucky enough to get any of them. Also, Wylie was severly traumatized by groomers - and for 2years he would start to violently shake, just when he saw a brush ; his quick was cut every time at the groomers . Marcel has never been to a groomer in his life (and never will).

| Aw poor baby. She is cold. What about little pj.s for her. My guys wear them in the wimter because they get cold. Even a little t-shirt will help her. It is very difficult to find a groomer you like. I refuse to bring my babies to different ones time and time again because I feel they are like guinea pigs. My Coco had part of his EAR chopped off be an idiot groomer. I do them myself. They don't look perfect but they are safe. I do little trims around the eyes and they butt area. I shave them with a longer clipper head and they do fine with it. It is very difficult to have a groomer actually listen to your instructions. You assume they know how to cut a yorkie. I understand your frustration, it's obvious they didn't know how to cut one. Don't worry it's only hair and it will grow back. Your baby is very cute.

| Well, I called. And conveniently the grooming manager wasn't in today and they woul call back tomorrow or today. I hate to admit it, but she goes to Petsmart to be groomed, and up until now, they have done a perfect job. I work awkward hours and they are the only place I could find before that I could get to when they were open. I have now called around and will be taking her to the groomer bmy mom used for 12 years - from beginning of her practice, until our two poodles passed away a long time ago (toy poodle was 20 and mini poodle was 18). So, this groomer has about 20 years+ experience and my mom loved her. So my mom called her for me this morning and she said that she can't believe how "stupid" those groomers are and if the hours I work are what is making me have to use Petsmart, then she will make expections and let me drop Sophie off when I leave for work (2pm) and finish work (9pm) even though she closes at 6pm. So I feel better knowing I can take her to this groomer despite my difficult hours. I know they will probably not call back, but I have decided I will be definitely taking my business elsewhere. If I am going to be paying 50$, I will pay it to someone that will actually listen, that I have had recommendations for and that will allow me to see where the animals are kept. |

| I can understand your reaction completely. Sophie is adorable in all the pictures but I am sure she is cold, especially in Canada in the winter! We have been fairly lucky with the groomer we choose although we have to repeat what we want every time, lol. Perhaps you can find a little hooded coat/sweatshirt so her head can stay warmer.

| pet smart shaved my Daisy once and she is a jack-a-poo and she looked ugly bc they shave her beard and everything. At least your lil one still looks cute and it will grow. I don't like pet smart for grooming bc most of them are in training. As for keeping your baby warm look up foggy mountain fleece coat for dogs. I put this on both my dogs in the winter.

| Awwww!!!! Sophie is adorable even with the short cut. I can understand your frustration. I do all of Jack's grooming - I'm trying to grow out his hair and don't want anyone messing with it. Fortunately, my husband helps by combing him out once a day or so.

| Oh she is still adorable. Just fix her a nest with a blanket, and a rice bag. ( pour some rice in an old tube sock, tie a knot in the end, and heat in the microwave about a minute) Place the rice bag under the blanket and let her snuggle. I love her color! |

| Thanks for all of the suggestions. I went out and bought her a sweater with a hood, but unfortunately she hated wearing it to walk, only likes using it to sleep with. I am feeling better about it, and have found a couple of new groomers I can try when it is time again... She is still cute, I just am frustrated that they didn't listen. I would love to groom her myself, but she gets too excited with bath time and everything with me and my hands are really shaky because I am afraid of hurting her. |
