Went to the groomer and now my little Sophie is freezing... I am so frustrated right now. I took my 7.5 month old yorkie to the groomer on Sunday and asked them to shave her body and neaten up her head, beard and tail. She gets a little grumpy when hair covers her eyes, so as much as I want to be able to put bows and stuff in her hair, I can't get it long enough, and she rips the bows out when I try..
I knew she would be cold getting shaved in winter, but she was really messy looking and had paint all over her that we couldn't get out (she was naughty one night when my fiance and I were painting our bathroom..), but I bought her about 10 more sweater at Petsmart (they were on sale)....and know I can keep her body warm.
Well, the groomer asked us what we wanted done with her face, beard and tail and we told them just just neaten up around her eyes, the beard (when she was spayed a couple of weeks ago, her sugar kept dropping so she was eating corn syrup at the vets office and at home and it was all over her beard, but nothing extreme), and we just said thin out the tail and keep it long. She asked us three times if we wanted those parts shaved and we said "absolutely not, just trimmed and neaten up" ...
...as I am sure you have guessed, we were called that she was ready and headed out to pick her up, and out came Sophie - the chihuahua former yorkie. She had been shaved from the tip of her nose to the tip of her tail... At first, I thought it was alright, so I paid (stupid me) and left. I wasn't happy but was afraid of confrontation.
I am so frustrated right now. Her body is warm, but she keeps grunting and burying her head under the blanket/pillow/under a sock/with her paws and her ears are freezing. I knew I was having her body done, and have done it before and she was comfy ... but she keeps trying so hard to get her head warm, that it is ridiculous ... I would have NEVER shaved hr as short as they did and her entire body in the middle of winter. I was told it would be short, but she would be fine with a sweater...and she was before, but it seems without the hair on her head, she is freezing and she keeps hiding it under stuff.
Sorry for the length, I am calling tomorrow and complaining. I don't expect anything, but they need to know that I am not happy and that I don't want that particular groomer doing it to her again.
I attached a few pictures. The first two are her from last night, the third is how she usually looks after the groomer and the last one is from early January - she looked cute but I just wanted her crazy 'bed head' neatened up..
Oh and in case anyone is wondering about her colouring. She isn't a full yorkie - close, but not technically. Her mom is a 'purebred' Biewer and her dad is a yorkie-poo. But the last poodle anything mixed in that line was three generations ago, and it was a yorkie-poo female. I love her colouring and size (3.5 lbs) |
