| First, there are worse things than not having a man. A healthy relationship is based on a partnership. If he knows these dogs are important to you then they need to be important to him. If he is talking about you finding another "man" then he doesn't sound invested in your relationship. You can always tell what a person will do in the future by what they have done in the past, with rare exception. This man has bailed once out of a relationship with you and chances are he will do it again. I would suggest you put a huge gulf of distance between you and "Mr. Uninvested" and look elsewhere for a relationship. Life is too short to keep going out with men who are so selfish and self absorbed. |

| You and Maya are way too cute to be playin' those silly boy games. As soon as a guy said something insensitive like that to me, they'd be OUT THE DOOR. When my husband and I were just dating, he would come and pick up my dog to take her for "ice cream dates". He didn't bring me! Just my dog I loved it.

| It's been a long haul and lots of frogs. Finding a good man here in Memphis is tough. Although this one made this one stupid statement, and our history is not as I would like it, he IS a good person in many many ways. Like I said, given his other good attributes, I never wanted us to end the first time. I KNEW there was something there, and I bowed out gracefully and went on the old addage "Set something free, and if it was yours in the first place, it will come back to you." I knew that by the time these other Memphis women worked him over for a while he would be back. What happened was, at our age, he is very lucky to still have his mother AND father still living and doing well. His mother suddenly got ill and it scared him to death. Who did she ask for??? Me. THe sisters and the brother in law, everyone always asks him about me. So that was what made him call that strated us back to talking again. We used to work out together, so then that started back, and then recently the daily walks. So that was kind of how we fell back together.

| After reading your post, my first thoughts were to tell you to run to the nearest exit sign! However, after listening to more of your comments about his behavior, I think the comment by your X was more of a insecurity issue with him. Maybe his statement was made more for HIS behalf than yours. Sounds to me like he does not want you going out on the prowl for other men, but wants you for himself; and the only way to do this is to encourage thoughts in you of NOT being able to get someone else who accepts your little ones. For whatever reason though, I would definitely communicate to him that you are a package deal. No ifs, ands, or buts! Whoever YOU choose, [and the operative term here is YOU] to be with, will accept your two best friends as well!! You have the upper hand here as far as I can see. Keep it that way. Best wishes, keep us posted BTW, you are very beautiful women, both inside and out, and deserve to be treated as such Last edited by lil fu fu girl; 01-31-2010 at 10:20 AM. |

| Let me just add, because I have been there too ....We women can be such nurturing and care giving individuals that sometimes we allow others to take advantage of us and not treat us well. I have been engulfed by another before and let the negativity and bad stuff be swept under the rug. Yes, we all have issues and 'maybe' this one is having some himself however, if we do not demand respect we will never receive it. Please take this in the context it is intended... I am a VERY strong woman and even I, in my past, was taken in and not treated right. It can happen so quickly when we have so much compassion. Just a consideration is all. I really do wish you the best of luck!!

| I am new here but would just like to add a thought about this topic. I have been married for 33 years to a man who is definitely not an "animal lover". He never quite understood how I could become so attached to the many pets we have had over the years...until Missy came along! Now everyone is so shocked in how much he has bonded with our little girl. My children are amazed. So maybe there is hope! There is a chance he just said a stupid thing and will realize how wrong he is. Maybe you can talk to him about it and give him a chance to explain. Some people aren't automatically "animal lovers" they just learn from others and from loving furry friends. |
