| I think floppy ears are adorable. Anyways... It's a dog..... they are amazing no matter what they look like so it shouldnt matter. Lucy's ears didn't go up until she was almost 6 months old......

| eew that does seem harsh, I think shes just wondering for the typical style of the breed...... I taped macies ears for less than 2 days, and they have stayed up the whole time since, I regretted doing it so soon but I never dreamed they would take so well, mabey thats why they did because she was so young, but was afraid that I would wait till it was to late, but I think there so cute floppy as a puppy and she is only 9 weeks so I get so excited when she wakes up they look a tad "loose" haha, but they havent majorly went back yet...I heard over all its best they stand up to keep from being moist and icky if they flop over so thats why I was shooting for them to stand up, from things Id heard neg about the flop, but each to his own I guess, do you prefer one way or the other???? |

| Wow - I can't believe that everyone is getting so uptight over this. According to the AKC, the breed standard for Yorkies is 'Ears are small, V-shaped, carried erect and set not too far apart". This is why people are considering it to be a "flaw" if the ears are floppy. My yorkie girls ears stand straight up, and have since they were 5-6 weeks of age, BUT they are also pretty big, not "small" as the breed standards say they should be. That must mean my girls are flawed too. OH WELL! We can't all be perfect. I know that I certainly am NOT! ![]() Is it a full moon or something? Everyone seems awfully touchy lately. I'm sure if I really wanted to critique my furbabies, I could find MANY flaws, but who cares really? Just love them for who they are!

The show standards are there for a reason, and reputable breeders strive to produce babies that meet those standards. The goal of reputable breeders is to improve the breed, or to leave it better than they found it (I am quoting some of the excellent breeders on YT when I say this - I am not a breeder myself). To the OP: how old is your yorkie? Tate's ears went up and down several times when he was teething. Keeping the hair on the ears trimmed does help a lot. Now his ears are always up, unless he's played so hard he's just worn himself out - then one of them droops about halfway down. I think that's so cute!!

| Lola just turned a year old this week, her ears stood straight until last month. I think because the hair on her ears were getting to heavy and started to make them flop. The groomer came yesterday and gave Lola a haircut, I asked her to take some hair off her ears and they finally started to stand again.

| Well I came across this while I was reading up on neuticles and other interesting subjects, some of the 'ears up camp' may be interested in. Seeing as they call it the 'PermaStay', I thought it was an implant which would allow you to threaten your dog to sit by webcam or cell phone, or maybe page him if he was roaming, but sadly it is not, it is, however, a new ear-perker technology: Neuticles.com The other thing I wanted to relay, while my tongue was in my cheek, is that Frisco and I took a closer look at his anatomy today, and his ears are made of something like baloney on top, quite unlike the cat's, and, so, would seemingly require permanent braces and duct tape to lift. (We trust that doesn't overly enthuse the AKC folks.) And we also discussed the fair and proper disqualification of show yorkies whose ears have been artificially perked, for use of performance-enhancing ear products. Now I will remove my tongue from my cheek, and dangle it part way out my mouth where it belongs |

| Alfie's ears are down too and maybe it's a flaw too but it doesn't matter, love your pet because they are yours, and its good that they are different, wouldn't care if Alfie had no ears haha.....we all love him so much he is such a little character x |

| Right after we got our puppy one ear started to fall. We read up on it and there was a lot of talk about trimming the hair. All well and good, but our Yorkie didn't have heavy hair on his ears. One person told us to try foods that were high in calcium content. We did that and the popped right back up and have stayed there! |
