Our little Harlie's ears were standing straight up when we got her about 10 days ago, she's now 10 weeks old. 4 days in, her left one flopped, 7 days in and her right has the same floppyism . I was worried at at first and taped the left ear for 2 days...did no good. When the right one fell, it didn't bother me a bit. I was told that if they stood at one point in time, they'll stand again. Now, I could care less because my Yorkie is the cutest Yorkie ever in the entire universe .

What about ear glue? Blue had his ears glued because his ears wouldn't go up & when my bff gave him to me, she shaved the old glue off and the skin had no side effect from the ear glue.

A flaw if you showing your dog maybe but I dont see my baby as flawed at all and I hate for it to be said like that............

I agree that it 'sounds' insulting to be told that your pups ears are 'flawed', even though that might not be what the poster meant. But from what I've read here some dog's ears didn't stand up till a year old. Were they 'flawed' till then and not now?? I am thankful that society hasn't decided that we all had to meet a certain standard or criteria or we would be considered flawed....not just different...but flawed! :-) Plus, I don't think it would be as hurtful to owners to say that to 'improve the breed" or to "show" a Yorkie their ears should be erect. This is not intended to be an argument...just my opinion...which just may be 'different' from others. LOL

My puppy is almost 3 months. I don't know yet if his ears or one will be up or always be down. His daddy yorkie ears are down, but his mommy yorkie ears are up & rigid...so it will be interesting what will be outcome of his ears. I kind hoping at least one up & one down...omg..that will be so CUUUTE!!!!

My Brodie has one ear standing up and one ear floppy right now but he is as cute as can be... I do hope the other on does eventually stand up also but he is still young. He is only 9 weeks old so there is time. I am first time Yorkie owner and always had big dogs like German Shepherds, Labs and most recently a 160 lb Great Dane! He is sure a change and is just like a little baby. We love him to death!

Neuticles.com

The other thing I wanted to relay, while my tongue was in my cheek, is that Frisco and I took a closer look at his anatomy today, and his ears are made of something like baloney on top, quite unlike the cat's, and, so, would seemingly require permanent braces and duct tape to lift. (We trust that doesn't overly enthuse the AKC folks.) And we also discussed the fair and proper disqualification of show yorkies whose ears have been artificially perked, for use of performance-enhancing ear products.

Now I will remove my tongue from my cheek, and dangle it part way out my mouth where it belongs
Now that's good s**t right there, lol....

I was told to massage their ears to get the circulation going better and so i thats what I've done with my Marley before, and Izzy, and now Madlyn. And so far they've all ended up with erect ears. Madlyn's flop down sometimes but she's teething so that's to be expected. And she's only 12 weeks old. Plus they seem to like their ears rubbed. Now, Toby has floppy ears but I didn't even try to massage his. He looks like a little german teddy bear with his floppy ears and I love it.

Not a breeder so I'm just guessing but I think the word flaw is a term used by people who show dogs and the judges. Nothing us layman need to worry about. We love our "Pet" yorkie ears anyway they come. I've often wondered when I see one with HUGE ears, sky high on the sides of their heads ( Yoda like) if that was natural or someone taped them to stand when they would have actually looked cuter floppy. If you have one, don't get offened, they are cute in their own unique way.

Hi everyone, my 4 1/2 lbs baby has floppy ears which I love. She just turned a year old. When I first got her they where up, then down, then up, then one up and one down and now both down. Does anyone have any cute grooming ideas for babies with floppy ears, I am thinking about doing a Korean cut, like I have seen on maltese with long ears.
