The show standards are there for a reason, and reputable breeders strive to produce babies that meet those standards. The goal of reputable breeders is to improve the breed, or to leave it better than they found it (I am quoting some of the excellent breeders on YT when I say this - I am not a breeder myself).

To the OP: how old is your yorkie? Tate's ears went up and down several times when he was teething. Keeping the hair on the ears trimmed does help a lot. Now his ears are always up, unless he's played so hard he's just worn himself out - then one of them droops about halfway down. I think that's so cute!!
