| My dog Pixie is now 5 months and they finally stand up. It is important I think to have a groomer or you can do it trim the hair on the ear so that there is no hair hanging off the ears. Jon-An's Yorkshire Terriers (How to train Yorkies ears to stand) This site helps. the cartlidge is forming until 6 months of age so it is important to get the weight off (hair) bc it weighs the ear down. Pixie had 1 ear up at 3 months and at 5 the other one popped up. Also teething their ears will droop!

| Also I never taped the ear I just felt it would cause more problems bc off sores and taking the tape off. I really think trimming the hair helped!

| When my yorkie Chewy was a puppy his ears flopped down. Someone told me its because they are teathing or the hair on their ears are to heavy and if they are still puppies you can tape them up for a few weeks until they are strong enough. I did it with Chewy and his ears stand up now. Sometimes when the hair on the right side gets heavy, his ear will flop over. It's not painful for them, probably just a little annoying. Try this website. Top Taping Yorkie Ears Taping Yorkshire Terrier Ears Stand Erect Yorkie Ears

| How old? They are not supposed to be down, your friend is wrong. Some never stay erect, that is a flaw. As others said, teething can make them go up & down. Make sure to keep the hair trimmed, shaved. Keep the cartilage strong.

YT Addict | Derby's ears only go up when he's feeling an "extreme" emotion. Other than that, they stay down. I've tried everything and that's that. So he's "flawed" ya, but he's also 10 pounds. Part of me thinks he's a mix even though his papers say Yorkie- but at the end of the day... He's my dog and I love him no matter what. My husband surprised me with this puppy the week before we got married, so while I wanted a smaller (ahem cuter?) Yorkie- we have Derby and he's the BEST!!! He's just not standard in any way shape or form...

| New to YT but I wanted to let Derby's mom know that Floppy Ears may not be the standard but thats OK!!! My Dallas is just a year old and is 6 pounds and he has floppy ears. I to questioned if my Yorkie was all Yorkie and after searching the webb I found out there are many Floopy Eared Yorkies running around. I would not trade my Dallas for the world. | I brought Prince Henry home at 9 wks and his ears were already standing. I saw pics of him and his litter mates at 6 wks and they all were standing perfectly and I was wondering myself what makes some stand and some not... I have yet to shave the hair on his ears so should I since hes never had a problem or at 5 months do I need to worry? |

| Lily's ears would go up & down for months...she's 6 months now and they're both up but when she gets tired...they will flop some. Trim the ears...that helps too. I worried and worried about them but they finally came up.

Ok, I'm sorry if this comes off harsh, but first of all what is wrong with floppy ears?!!!!! This really upsets me, because Fiona's ears are floppy and I wouldnt want it any other way, if my friends, or people i didnt know sat there and told me how they should be, i'd tell them to go to you know where!? It's not a bad thing to have floppy ears.....
