LEt me just tell you guys that people are very aware of Cookie gone missing. This morning I took my daughter to her bus stop and waited there with her. Got home made coffee and toast. I have my day planned out already. Going to Humane Society to check, finish the groceries. This morning around 8:50 am I get a knock on my door from a lady I know, she lives like 4 blocks behind me. She was nervous and excited she tells me " I just saw a man walking a tiny yorkie on such and such street. Very close by. I ran got my purse and grabbed my cell just in case I needed to call cops. She didnt let me go alone so she drove in front of me. We both park on the grass like we were cops and I walked toward the man. Th etiny yorkie bolted towards me like he knew me. But it was not Cookie. I could recognize him in an instant. I went up to the man with my flier and apologized if I startled him. But I told him that I will go up to anyone that I see with a small yorkie to ID them. He understood and took my flier , he said he knows about Cookie because he's seen the fliers. The lady was in tears because she thought it was Cookie and saw how the little dog ran to me. I told her not to feel bad. I am glad she took the time to knock on my door and drove her car to keep me safe. As soon as I get home ...not kidding I sat down to finish my coffee and mycell phone is ringing. Another woman just drove by that street and saw the same man and called me to please check it out! Itold her how thankful I am that people out there are looking out for Cookie but I had checked it out already and it was not him. But to PLEASE call me if she sees another one. With all the people aware of Cookie I honestly doubt anyone would dare take him outside. My mom is here and she is amazed at how people are truly keeping an eye out. I told her " Its like this everyday, except now I dont break down as much I just go and check it out to confirm" Gen |

Gen, did you put a notice out on the Yorkie Classifieds of this forum? I've been chasing down web ads and it steered me to the YT Classifieds. Someone may be looking there or advertising sale of Cookie. They might not even know this thread exists. |
So I'm in california and as I am reading updates, I am watching the news (FOX LA) out here...its a popular station..anyways, they just spent like 4 minutes on a lost dog. The owner contacted the news station and they aired pictures and the reward amount and such. They even let her talk on air...like on the phone. I know cookie is already being watch for by so many people because you have done SUCH a great job making everyone aware of cookie, but maybe you could do this with your local news... ? just an idea, I thought it was a great one-they're already getting ton of tweets (from twitter) from watchers who are interested in helping find their dog. Brianna |
It's a good idea. The exposure that TV might get her is beyond anything we could do as individuals, and I know several of us have been hard at work trying to help. I'd be willing to give a small amount toward the reward. I'm not sure if it's against the forum rules but if all of us did that it might make a reward big enough to draw Cookie's 'dognappers' out. |
We continue to hold Cookie and your entire family in our thoughts and prayers. :hands: |
waiting with you waiting for news. Really concerned. |
just checking for cookie. all this heartache has me thinking and gatsby was not chipped before but he will be now i called the vet and she said to bring him in tomorrow so i will i also will be putting on his akc lost and found tag (did cookie have a lost and found tag) it may seem stupid but maybe you should contact the AKC and send them his pic if he goes to a pure breed rescue they may be able to notify you |
Gen, the poster above has a good point. I know you contacted the media soon after Cookie was lost. BUT now there is another story---YOU and your intense search for your pet--long after most people would have given up. I'll bet people at the TV stations have seen your signs--everyone has. I would bet that they would be more willing to run a story now. In fact, I am kind of surprised they have not contacted you. |

They only hold them for 5 days. finddog I cant take another one in. I still have the other surrendered yorkie here until later this week whenI take him to Dogs & Cats forever so they can find him a good home. Gen |

News Stations Gen, news stations sometimes run "human interest" pieces, especially during the holiday season. They look for a unique angle or something truly heartwarming, which I think your story is. I think the angle here might be how so many people--family, friends, and total strangers--are coming together, coming forth, calling you, knocking on your door, donating money in hard times; how employees--some ignoring the rules--have posted Cookie's information on bulletin boards.People Come Together to Reunite One Woman With One Small Dog. How One Small Dog Brings Strangers Together. Headlines were never my strong suit, but you get the idea. |
