| The more I think about this thread, the more upset I get. 1.6oz is just unbelievable for full-grown. Chewy was exactly this size when he came to us at 3 months. He was the tiniest thing I had ever seen. Actually, having him so small was fairly difficult and inconvenient but we adjusted. Now at 7 months, he is about 3 1/2 lbs and my husband always comments on how small he still is. I still worry so much about him and am always worried that he will get caught underfoot and get hurt, I mean, a large book falling off the bookshelf could do this dog in and that is not a joke. Breeding a dog for this size and then asking such prices, to me, is unethical. How would we feel if people started breeding white girls who would weigh no more than 115lbs when matured and then aksing prospective adoptive parents to pay FAR more for them than for other races or weights. Think about it. |

I think the price is crazy too but some people have that kind of money to spend on a dog.

| Asking this much for a pup/dog is almost a gaurentee (sp) that the pup/dog will be bought as a fashion accessory... those that buy yorkies for the love of the breed, generally do their homework and will know that this is an outragous (sp) price, they will also know that having an open spot in the bones in his head isn't normal, and by looking at the pictures you can tell something isn't right, they eyes are bulging and wide set... the pup in my eyes doesn't look like yorkie standard. This is why I believe setting the price for this pup isn't to ensure a good home, it will be a fashion statement, taking advantage of his small size to thicken ones bank account. If you want to make sure the pup goes to a good home, price it way down to the normal range, interview the potential buyers, talk to their vets, visit their home.... you know, what most good reputable breeders do. This is all just MHO, someone said their fear is that more people will breed too small of dogs trying to get very small pups, selling them at a high price... this is also my fear... reminds me of what puppy mills do, disregard the health of the dogs they are breeding, (in this case breeding way too small of dogs to get a small pup) and keep their bank accounts full.... |

| Something is VERY odd about that dog. The coloring is funny and the dog itself is very funny looking. It doesn't look like a purebred to me. Something just isn't quite right. Also where did she get him from? and after having him for 10 months why sell him now? and why at such a high price for one that is not very young? I'm just really baffled by this. Something is not smelling right about this whole thing. |

Until you said this, I didn't realize that Cooper was 1.6# when we got him at 9 weeks and at 7 months is now 3.3#. I cannot imagine a fullgrown yorkie at 1.6# either!!! While Cooper and Carter are only .1# different in weight, Cooper looks much smaller than Carter. He isn't as long in length but is the same height. I'm really hoping that he puts on more weight but usually by 7 or 8 months, they are done growing. Lisa

Are you saying that YTers that have posted on this thread are NOT welcoming? How so? What was said in this thread that was shameful?? I see that some are concerned and watchful and will state their thoughts and opininions when red flags are flying. Most Yorkie Talkers are VERY welcoming! Including many of the people that have commented negatively toward this original post. I feel that posts such as these can be helpful. There are different opinions and ways of expressing them but its a discussion that some new AND old members can learn from. If a new member were to read this thread I don't think it would make them run away. It might make a scammer think twice, though. | |

First off, if you have never sewen a dress, I would watch what you are saying. I make several and depending on what material and ribbion I put on it will adjusts the cost. Yes I can make one for 2 dollars, but it looks like crap. Extreamly plain and no frill at all. Also if I only spent 20 minutes to cut and sew it 1. it wouldnt be finished, 2 you would be lucky if it fit 3. it would probably fall apart before it even got on your dog. I take twice that just to cut because I like straight lines and proper layout. I take time, I have integrity and I charge a decent price. I use quality material and ribbions. I charge anywhere from 15 to 50 depending on what is used. Think about it if I use fabric that is 12 dollars a yard and another for accent at 9 dollars a yard and the accent is 17 a yard I would be making very little on a dress for 40$. I know I am speaking for myself, but I would imagine the others that make and sell clothes would agree, for a cheap price you get lesser quality. And I hardly think any of us would do such a thing, otherwise we would never sell a thing!! BTW I do feel the baby is over priced, because of his issues with the open fontanal and all. I hope she lowers her price someone will take proper care, or he gets lucky and finds a good mommy despite that price tag.
