Love My Geita Lupita...

I have been chatting in the Sick&Injured/Emergency Talk forum because my little one had pyrometra. One of the many people ( BonBon) that were helping me through this tough time with my little peanut Geita suggested I post Geita's story here. What started the conversation was the fact that Geita really LIGHTS UP when she spots another Yorkie big or small. So here it is....
The Story Of Geita Lupita the 4lb. Wonder Yorkie
Geita was seized along with many others in a puppy mill raid last year. She had ear mites coupled with double ear infections, mange, conjuntivitis, URI, an infected mouth with teeth literally rotting out, and pattellar luxation in both back legs. Not to mention she was 8 years old, matted in the places she did have hair, and her little nails where curling under into her pads. However, when I first laid eyes on her it was love at first sight! So, I scooped up my little diamond in the ruff and haven't put her down since. I was quickly reminded of the hell she had been through in her previous years when she had her pyrometra surgery two days ago. The vet said she had never seen so much scar tissue from previous c-sections in her life. So you can imagine, this poor baby was bred over and over again knowing she was too small to birth the puppies naturally. The pain she had to go through nursing puppies probably every six months with sutures in her tiny belly. Ugh, it just makes me sick when I think about it! Anyway, Geita Lupita is feeling much better today. Although she is still sore, she is eating, drinking, and giving loads of sugars! I swear I fall more and more in love with her everyday. She never ceases to amaze me, she is a tiny warrior.

I'm so glad to see Geita's story here! What this little girl has gone through in her life just amazes me. You are truly an angel for all that you've done for her. She's finally having the life she deserves - that of a little princess. Thank you!

I got Baxter 2 months ago from a rescue...they rescued him and his brother from a puppy mill. When I got to the rescue Baxter and his brother were jumping on each other and playing - I felt so bad separating the 2

I wish I would have also bought his brother but the lady at the shelter said someone was coming to look at him that night and I checked their site a few days later and he was adopted too.

At first, Baxter was very shaky and scared but it honestly only took him a few hours to warm up and start getting comfortable with me. Now everyone comments on how much they can tell he loves his mommy And I don't know what I would do without the little guy! He was 1.8 lbs when I got him and last week he weighed in at 2.8!

Little Geita's story brings tears to my eyes. It just sickens me to no end that this goes on. I am thankful that she is now in your arms and feels nothing but love. A tiny warrior indeed....

I myself have a little rescue/rehomed baby. My little Mozes (Mo) was "rehomed" to me 3 years ago. He was 3 at the time, he just turned 6. He is just precious. I found him on the internet and with him being fairly local to me I checked into getting him. It all worked out. I picked him up one day in August--we met the previous owner 1/2 way. She was giving him ICE TEA to drink! UGH! His little gums were pussy and teeth were in terrible shape and he was unneutered. To this day I am not so sure he wasn't kicked around a bit but I will never know for sure. If one of us approaches him to suddenly he will crouch and cry out--heartbreaking. He is a love bug. My husband swears he is "in love" with me. lol He seemed like such a little old man when I brought him home. He didn't play or have much of a personality. He would just sit and look--very hollow like. It took some time but I am happy to report that he acts like a little puppy now. He is happy, healthy and loves to play. He is a real hoot and a nice compliment to my Mayzie.

Default rescue yorkie !

there is so many wonderful stories on this site . Its great to see so much love for these animals ,its really heart-warming.
My little Minnie is a rescue ,she was abandonned at 14 years of age ( well the rescue sanctuary thought she was 17 years and the vet thinks shes 14yrs) I adopted her this times last year (we are having a party for her in a few weeks to celebrate a year togeather!). She is honestly he best thing to happen me ,the joy she brings is just incredable ! I suffer from diabetes and it has been very difficult to control and I have been very ill with it but Minnie has a great calming and relaxing effect on me and when Im around her my blood sugar levels improve! Its also a huge motivational boost when I watch my little baby ,shes only a minature ,climbing stairs ,running around and jumping with excitement !Its awful to think she was abandonned in the first place but Im so greatful for her xx

OHHH My! Minnie is so gorgeous!!!! What I lucky girl, so many people look the other way when it comes to seniors. I rescued one about 7 years ago, my best friend and I went to a this lady's house (in Shreveport, LA) so she could buy a poodle puppy. We had no idea we would be walking into a backyard breeding situation. Cocoa Man was in a wire kennel about the size of a small bunny cage. He was barking and screaming, I finally asked the lady if he was okay and she hit the cage telling him to shut up, at which time he began to growl and bark. She said he was mean as sin, and up until a few weeks ago the only reason she kept him around is because he made pretty puppies. Now he can't even do that she says. Then she tells me he's 16 years old and no good anymore, and when her husband got back in town she was gonna have him just shoot the dog. Some how I kept my cool and calmly asked if I could have him.I of course reported her when I left but that is a whole other can of worms. So when I brought Cocoa Man home he was in horrible shape, he walked with his back hunched like a mad cat. My vet told me it was permenant and caused from being confined in a small space for so long. He only weighed about 2 and a half pounds but his frame was that of a 5-6 lb. Yorkie. All of his teeth had to be pulled, which was a good thing because everytime I picked him up he would attack me for about 2 minutes before he would finally calm down. He was also mostly blind in one eye and completely blind in the other. To make a long story short, after 1 month of love and affection Cocoa Man decided he didn't have to attack everytime he was touched. He lived for two more years and died in the bed soundly in his sleep. I will never forget Coo Coo Cocoa Man!

That ones a tearjerker! Cocoa Man was so lucky you came along! It was so great of you to take him home and give him a life he desperately deserved. I'm so saddened by the life he had before he met you. I'm glad that he finally found companionship and love with you.

3 of the M&Ms are rescues. First came Maggie as a companion for our aging Mitzi (R.I.P.) We got her from Yorkierescueme.com where I actually had fallen in love with another little girl but she was already spoken for. One day her foster mom called and told that Maggie was waiting for us to come and get her. So we did and she was the gentlest friend possible for Mitzi until her time came.

Then we got Maxie and Minnie as a rehoming from YT. They were called Capone and Eve and we got the mother of Minnie, Gypsy, too but she didn't get along with Maggie and was in general very dominant. So we found her another home where she is an only fur kid and is happy as can be.

We consider Maximus and Minnie as rescues too b/c when we got them they were in a really bad shape, emaciated and up to the ears full of hook worms. Minnie was advertised as a teeny tiny girl of only 3 lbs..... well... 3 lbs. of skin and bones... she weighs now a healthy 6.5 lbs and grew since last August about 1 1/2 in. Maximus was advertised as a 'southern gentleman' that always let the ladies go eat first. Well... yeah... his 'wife' Gypsy was so dominant that she never let him eat in peace and he also was so frightened of everything that he barely got out of his cowering... He did weigh only 6 lbs. and is now a healthy teapot of 12 lbs., a lean mean cuddle machine...LOL!

1. Maggie the hippie girl
2. Maximus
3. Minnie

Hi Jody. This is a great thread. It really shows people that they can find beautiful pups through rescue and rehomes. Here is my crew.

Bella is 5 yrs. old. She wasn't your traditional rescue. She came from a woman in our neighborhood whose dogs had pups. All the pups were taken except for Bella who was very sick, actually near death. She fit in the palm of my hand and her little body was covered head to toe in fleas and bites. I wanted to give her a shot at life so began a journey to get her better. She was only 5 weeks old when I took her and I've always been sorry that I was unable to get her sibblings. I pray that they all made it.

Noel is about 5 years old and she was a rescue. It was believed that she came from an Amish puppymill in PA and brokered to a small puppymill in NJ then sold as a Yorkie then returned then we lost track from there. When she came to us, she had been beaten and had worms etc. It took a good three years to acclimate her to not fear people and now I'm happy to report that although still somewhat reserved with strangers she now loves to play and get attention and no longer cowered when strangers come. Noel by the way is a Yorkie Poo.

Tia is 3 years old and she was a rehome. She is a Morkie. I found her in the classified section. She actually turned out to be a rescue as well. When we got her she was malnurished and was frightful of newspapers. She was 3.lbs. and is now a healthy 5 lbs.

Lilly is 2 yrs. old and she was a rescue. We had lost our Newman to cancer and found Lilly on Petfinder. She was a tiny 13 week old pup that was orignally bought from a petstore and for whatever reason the people had a change of heart and brought her to the shelter in turn the shelter notified rescue and that went her story. They had over 100 applicants on her and I was the lucky pick. Her cost $400 which included the pediatric spay which was done before I got her and all her shots and vetting. She's now a whopping 3.5 lbs. and beautiful and healthy. She is proof that you can if patient find a beautiful full breed puppy in rescue. Pet adoption: Want a dog or cat? Adopt a pet on Petfinder

Lastly is our Beans. Beans was unplanned. We lost our Jersey at 17 months old to a brain abnormalty and was so devestated that I swore off anymore. Even fostering. Well, Beans was about 5 minutes from me and was a rehome on petfinder classified. Something kept pulling me to call. I did and got the story and then just went to take a look. He was in a bad situation. Living with a Pit, A boxer and a 4 yr. old and something just wasn't sitting well with me. They wanted $600 for him and I walked away but could not sleep all night. I contacted the rescue I work with and told them my thoughts. Although rescue does not buy dogs I asked if they would take Beans into rescue if I could manage to get him for a price where no one made money and if I donated the money. I felt he was not safe. The next day, I went over unannounced with $300 and they took it. And that was the beginning of Beans story. I found out they had him living in a 9x12 carrier. He was amaciated. He had no idea what grass was. He drank two bowls of water and a big bowl of food. He was starved. He never made it to petfinder. My husband fell in love and although I tried not to I did too. We've had him since September and he is still petrified of the brush and comb. We believe he was hit with it. And, he still has issues with his legs and feet being touched and he's very shy around people but getting better. He now knows what a toy is and how to play. It took a few months for him to know toys and play but as hard as it is to train a Yorkie it only took one week to potty train him. Sadly, he had been used to pooping and peeing in his crate and sleeping in it as there was no where else for him to go.

Pictures are of Beans and Lilly (in halloween customes) Tia (Champange Morkie) and Bella and Lilly kissing, and I also enclosed a picture of the carrier Beans was living in.

I just got home and of course turned on YT , and saw this thread. Most of you already know Lolita's story. She was rescued by JJC (Jenifer) from YT, and posted here in the rescue section for rehoming. We were the lucky couple chosen by Jen to be her new mommy and daddy. She went to her first vet visit with our vet today and they were amazed at how healthy she is. Her only real problem is lack of teeth but it doesnt stop her from eating. She is now up to 4lbs 2 oz. No knee problems, no ct, and no ls. She has completely adapted and has completely started to now go outside to potty. Her and Laddy get along famously. We have fallen so in love with her. We have already decided if we decide ever to get another or if and when the time comes ( years and years in the future please God) that one of them passes on we will do this again. They are such special little ones. I will post a couple of pictures for those of you who didnt read her story. Lolita is 5 years old.
