Thank god for people like you.

Great thread by the way .
Yes that is exactly it, for instance my Rocky came from a woman who shows and breeds, but she knew that Rocky would do better in a home that could give him a ton of attention. Since he was done showing and no longer needed in her breeding program, she gave me the opportunity to be his new mommy, so that he may have a lap of his own. People rehome their dogs for all kinds of reasons but basically because they are no longer the best possible home for them anymore.

I am loving this thread, there are so many touching stories

That's what I believe a rehome to be. Although, I've been known to be wrong before!

Me too!

Right now in the rescue forum there is a wonderful story unfolding about 3 yorkies in LA! Made my heart smile that they will all be either in a rescue or in a wonderful new home!

Abby's story was that her previous pet owner, a college student wanted a T-Cup to tote around in her lil' Doggy Purse. However, when Abby grew into her 8-9 lb frame...her owner grew tired of her and she came to live with me who loves every square inch of her loveliness!

Last, came Phoebe...my "second" Rescue Adoption thru YTNR! Her story was that she was surrendered by a Backyard Breeder who could no longer see a $$$ profit in her after two Casarean's births. She was a whole different ball of wax from Abby. At least Abby got some socialization whereas Phoebe was not so, she has been a lot more work to get her to trust & be social...but, she is getting there...slowly but, surely. I'm blessed that she thinks that I'm her Momma and believe me, she's never two steps away from my ankles and when I've been away she's always full of kisses for me upon my return!

Here are some pic's of my girlies for your enjoyment! Bella is my T-pot, Abby is almost all Silver & Cream & Phoebe is my lil' Darkie. The last pic includes my last (foster) YTNR-Rescue, Sammie (aka Rascal) who was just adopted a few weeks ago to live in his furever home with his new Momma, Sandy!
All of your little ones are beautiful! Thank you for being a foster mom and opening your home to help to save a pup. Being a foster mom can bring so much joy to your life, knowing that you have been able to make a difference for even a few more.

My turn, thanks for starting this thread!!

Annie B was a puppy mill rescue. She was a breeder for 5 years before she blessed my life. She was my love, my best friend, my reason for getting up each day. She was the first breath of air that filled my lungs every morning and the last sigh that escaped as we snuggled in for sleep each night. She had to have all her teeth pulled, so her tongue was always out, but I feel it just added to her adorableness. I did monthly cards that I sent to 30-40 of my closest family and friends each month & Annie was my model. I've never seen a dog who so love to play dress up and she was a pro at posing and giving me just the right look. She would start to dance around and get so excited every time I got the camera and tripod out. She lived for rides on the motorcycle and chasing the bunnies in the backyard. Sweet Annie, Momma still misses you soooo much!!
Who owns a rescue or rehomed Yorkie?-5mayresized.jpg Who owns a rescue or rehomed Yorkie?-aug-1.jpg

Then there's Boo. His owner took him and a poodle to the pound, they returned the next day for the poodle but left him. A rescue came and got him and we found him through them. I can't understand why anyone would want to give him up, he is the best dog!!! I don't know why, but I thank God every day they did, because he has been an absolute joy. He grieved with me when Annie had to leave us and he welcomed, with an open heart, little Gracie Ruth and has the patience of Job with her and Yogi. My precious Boo. And then there is...Me. I'm a rescue too. Gracie Ruth rescued me from the depths of despair when Annie crossed over the Rainbow bridge. I truly didn't know how I was going to breath without her. But when little Gracie came bounding through the house to greet me that first day and even though she wasn't much into giving kisses at that time, gave me a big kiss on my nose then squirmed to get back down to play with Boo I knew I had been saved. Thank you Manolo's Mom for this rare gem.

Wow. [Deep breaths]

I never thought of myself like this. But, that exactly how Zander and I felt about Chelsea after losing Becca last year.

Whew, I don't know why what you wrote has hit me so hard. I'm actually bawling right now. (But it's a good kind of crying).

What a great thread! I love all the pictures of these now healthy and happy dogs.

On a completely unrelated note, how are you guys getting your pictures to show up in the middle of your posts, instead of down below as attachments?

I sort of feel like Thor is a rescue sometimes, though he doesn't have these sad back stories. His first owner bought him from a pet store and while she took good physical care of him, she did not give him a lot of time. I actually asked her if I could have him because I was spending more time with her than she was, and she said yes.

In some ways, it is like having a puppy, because he came to me un-potty trained, knowing no commands, not even Sit, and some socialization issues. He also used to tremble and scratch a lot. Now he gets lots of outside time and exercise every day, and he knows (deep breath) Sit, Stay, Come, Down, Up, Leave It / Drop It, Shake, High Five, Spin, Speak, Roll Over and Bang! I'm waiting for three months of no accidents to officially call him trained, but we are getting there.

He's always been very friendly with people, but has some major socialization issues with dogs. He is also still somewhat fearful and barky when he's not sure what's going on. His philosophy is, when in doubt, bark loud and proud. He goes to doggy daycare once a week and is slowly getting better with other four legged creatures. I'm also working on some of his other bugaboos, like skateboards.

What beautiful stories you have all told and what beautiful babies
you all have. It tears your heart out of your chest reading some
of your stories but I know each story will have a happy ending.
Your all very special people opening your heart and home to those
pups who so desperately only need a chance to show you what
they can become and how much love they have to give.
It will never make sence to me how people just give up their
dogs like throwing away old shoes or trash.
Lucky for all of you to be the receivers of their discards.
Bless each and everyone of you and may you have many years
of happiness with your babies.

Like this? Who owns a rescue or rehomed Yorkie?-thor.jpg Just upload the pics, then using the arrow beside the paperclip, select the pic you want where you want it. Does that make sense?

In my book Thor qualifies as a rescue. Just because he hasn't suffered physical abuse, he is now experiencing a truly loving home.
