Do Yorkies sometimes look like Chuahuas?

Whether Ksena is a purebred Yorkie way off standard or a mix, it really doesn't matter as it won't change her appearance. Since the OP saw in in person before she purchased her, I doubt she has any recourse except returning her to the breeder.

Puppies from backyard breeders and pet shops/puppy mills usually grow up to be pretty far from the breed standard.

If the test comes back mixed I think it's safe to assume she's not purebred......I think that if the test comes back mixed then the breeder committed fraud basically. I'm not saying I'd press charges but that's what it boils down to. If she is mixed and true I did buy her it's because the breeder lied to me and said her looks would change etc etc....I'm not returning the dog even if the test does come back 1/2 kangaroo so maybe this is a bunch of wasted time and effort but really, I would like to know. Is her hair really not going to grow???? This is becoming quite commical...I can't stop laughing at some of the responses...very funny, thanks!

The vet is going to go over the test with me and the results coming from the lab will be in writing so I think it'll make more sense when simplified....

There are plenty of AKC registered dogs used in breeding that shouldn't have been. It's the reason so many yorkies are so out of standard in appearance...it does not mean they aren't "purebred".

If you don't get a puppy from a reputable breeder who is carefully breeding to produce puppies who will grow up to be as close to the Yorkie standard as possible, it's anybody's guess what the puppy will look like as an adult.

Because of their popularity, Yorkies have become a favorite among greeders and the result is a Yorkie prone to all sorts of genetic conditions like liver shunts. Legg-Perthes, etc. who barely resemble the standard set out by the YTCA.

I've been worried about health risks with Ksena as well....I thought she was reputable...I tried everything I knew to do. I googled her and found nothing bad and believe me I searched and searched...I even went back and forth with someone who bought one of her dogs and asked about health problems etc etc....she has sort of a web page that has really good reviews on it....I feel really bad about all of this but I did everything I knew to do and I chose to believe what the breeder told me because I couldn't find anything bad about her! The parents of Ksena had huge amounts of fluffy hair on their heads so I really believed her when she said that some dogs hair comes in later than others and that she would have a lot of hair...the hair to the floor. I figured it would cover her tiny head. I have seen Yorkies that have narrow faces with the long hair....I took a chance, I guess, that I wasn't being lied to....I don't want to get mad again so I guess I'll stop there....the breeder lied to me!! She lied to me and lured me to her house with a lie about quality an hour and a half away and then when I question Ksena's appearance she lied to me again....Maybe I am a fool but the breeder is an a** hole!! I have to stop now or I'm going to contact the breeder and go off...I shouldn't even be acting this way but I feel so deceived and angry....

Thanks, a friend came by yesterday and they were running and rubbing against her feet and she said she liked the one that looks like the chihuahua...I had to laugh! Anyway, talked to their vet yesterday to find out when I can fix the both of them and vet said hasn't heard back from MARS yet but as soon as they know I'll be the first to hear. Ksena has a shot appointment on Tuesday and Jonah's last appointment vet said by Ksena's next appointment which is Tuesday I should know. I guess there are no guarantees it will be Tuesday but MARS did say 2-3 weeks so it can't be any longer than this week at some point. Hopefully it will be Monday...they start kindergarten class on Tuesday as well so it's going to be a big day. Just wondering, if she is a Yorkie is it possible her hair will grow long at the top? It is possible right? I'm guessing it won't happen but it could right? When I called the breeder after people kept commenting on her looks the breeder said these people knew nothing about Yorkies.....lol....I guess we'll see....

Hey, a friend just came by and said his girlfriend has a grooming salon for 22 years and she owns a Yorkie...it's her favorite breed. When I get home later he said to call him and they'll stop by and she'll let me know what she thinks.....
