| ![]() Ann, if you decide to start this organization please let me know. I will gladly help. I think there is a lot we can all do to better our world and it's treatment of ALL animals. Elaine |

If you didn't see the news coverage of the demonstration at Westminster this year, just google it. Please educate yourself about the proposed anti-breeder legislation in your community. Much of it will punish good breeders while the abusive ones will continue. These are community problems and until communities come up with workable solutions, animals will continue to suffer and unwanted dogs and cats will continue to be destroyed. Everyone who loves animals wants them treated ethically. PETA does not have the corner on that. But I want to know that my great grandkids will be able to have a purebred puppy to love and PETA does not.

Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers... Btw....PETA announces when they will come stage their protests at dog shows, hence our security measures we take when they attend. But of course now that they are getting out of hand, my dogs crates are pad locked unfortuntely

We don't have to agree on everything. I do agree 100% that peta does not have the market cornered on a desire for animals to be treated ethically and I think that is wonderful. They are actually not even one of the organizations that receive the a large part of money that we donate. They are one of the biggest who have done the most for animals worldwide though. This thread was about the euthanasia rate that has been brought up multiple times on YT and hopefully those who had issue with it understand the reality better now, both from the article Kimberly posted and the actual statistics that Ann posted. I have said several times in every peta thread that I completely understand it isn't an organization for everyone and I completely respect that. I am very familiar with my own state's proposed spay/neuter bill and somewhat informed about some of the other states'. I try to keep as up to date as possible on all bills and laws regarding animals. I am a big letter writer and phone caller and I make sure I have my facts straight from reliable, independent sources. We can have a difference of opinion without that meaning one of us in uninformed. ![]()

I've had the germ of an idea of the folks at YorkieTalk getting together and forming a rescue. It seems that it's kind of done informally anyway. The 'Emma' thread got me to thinking about it more seriously. So many offered help to a girl that shouldn't have needed rescuing that I thought...hey, why not do it for dogs in serious need? YorkieTalk does, after all, have a nationwide reach. Could we not set up a fund and rescue some deserving dogs? They could then be adopted out and the funds from that could roll over to help another. Is this too crazy to be workable? There just seems to be so much good will here that it should be put to good use. Honestly, I would love to see some sort of group formed here and would help in any way I could.

I hear ya, Kellie, it could get complicated and things could happen that could really get complicated. I think admin has considered this before at length and I think it was so complicated with logistics (not to mention some liability) that it wasn't moved forward. 'Course, never hurts to ask ![]()
