♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | safe from other dogs? Does anyone else go through this stage of worrying when out on walks that other dogs you meet are going to be ok?Most walks I do other dogs are off leash so I let Tia off but sometimes I pick her up if I think the dog approaching isnt going to be ok, am I being silly?

| Anytime there are other dogs off leash while walking, I would NOT ever leave a yorkie off leash. If the other dog is aggressive, you may not have time to leash your dog or pick it up if it is off leash. AFTER your yorkie has been attacked is TOO LATE to decide you should have had more control.

| I don't worry, but I am watchful & ready to pick up my guys if I anticipate danger. Stuff happens.

| I'm usually not too worried. I took Jackson to a little league ball game for my little cousins baseball game today and there were so many different dogs around. He greeted them all so nicely, even a Belgian Shepperd. There was a puggle, a cockapoo, another Shepperd mix. They were all on leashes though, as was Jackson, but I feel like most people don't bring their dogs to dog parks and stuff if they aren't nice or do well with other dogs. But I'm always on the watch, of course!

| I worry. A lot. In fact I am somewhat neurotic. I only have certain places I will walk my babies.

| We don't really have off leash dogs in our neighborhood BUT we have a ton of stray cats and there is one cat that is about 2 times bigger than Samson (we haven't taken Harley for a walk yet cuz he doesn't have all his shots and this cat is probably 3 times bigger than Harley). Anyways I am not kidding this cat stalks us when we walk. I have to always pick up Sam until the cat goes away. I believe this cat thinks Samson is a rat I am walking and he wants to punce on him. Even when I try to scare the cat away it continues to stalk Samson.

I only let her off in specific areas of my neighbourhood that I know really well and that are not the more popular dog walking areas so I can let her run freely with no worries...it's lovely to see her doing that. When another dog is aproaching us I have to make a quick assessment..the size of the dog and whether it is on/off leash and of course its body language..does it look agressive at all? You have to have eyes in the back of your head with these little ones...I take NO chances whatsoever...

| I always walk mine on leash, but you can't trust the other dogs even though yours maybe be perfectly well behaved. I have had to pick mine up before when I would come across a questionable dog. Better safe than sorry. |

| Hehehe, now I feel a little over the top. Missy is ALWAYS on leash, and I pick her up even when a big dog is approaching who is on a leash too

Yorkie Yakker | I worry because you never know what's going to happen. You should have your pup on a leash to make it easier to pick up. I'm glad that I have my pups leashed because I had an inccident where a pitbull, that was behind a gate, found a quick way out of the gate and went straight forward to attack my dogs. If I hadn't had leashes on them I wouldn't have been able to pick them up as quick and the injury would have been worse... So having a leash on is a great idea!

| I always keep Abby on a leash when we are outside, whether it's to go potty or for a walk. There are quite a few big dogs around where we live and unfortunately the owners let them run loose. (Or just don't know that they are on the run) Don't want to take any chances. |

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | Im glad its just not me then lol although I seem lucky compared to most of you as some countryside walks you can walk for miles and never meet another dog. Thanks for putting my mind at rest.

| I live on a farm, technically. Even though we're only 10 minutes away from Annapolis and about a 30-40 minute drive from DC and Baltimore. But, we live on a house on a big hill far away from the road with 3 acres of land. Behind us (basically our backyard) is 60 acres of farmland that our "far away" neighbor owns. In the "country", dogs just run off leash, lol. My mom's 4 year old cockapoo (who is SUCH a tomboy) runs this place, lol. She's always just had free roam of the yard and goes everywhere - down to the farm to greet the farmer, etc. It's just what we've gotten used to with her. I do let Jackson outside without a leash but he doesn't go unsupervised for more than 3-5 minutes at a time. Him & my moms dog have so much fun together outside and they stay really close by all the time. I can keep a watchful eye through the sliding glass door all the time. I love the fact that Jackson is sort of a farm dog and loves being outdoors. I can totally trust him off leash (however, I wouldn't allow it at a public place with a bunch of other dogs) but it's nice to know he'll be right there beside me w/o a leash. I have two different sides of me - one part of me is very laidback with him and doesn't worry too much but on the other hand, I can be very overprotective as well. For example, my mom and stepdad wanted me to meet them for dinner last night forgetting I had had Jackson w/ me. My stepdad told me to just leave him in the car while I ate and I was appalled! LOL. I would never let that happen. The farmer owns 3 black labs and they come down by themselves and visit often!
