| I'm sorry this happened to you when you has your heart set on these kittens. It seems very odd to me that they would insist that you take a pair. Kittens are not shoes Ususally, a rescue will adopted bonded pairs but I've never heard of a ruscue having a rule that you must adopt a pair. When I first started reading your story I thought you were going to say that you were turned down because of your BF's allergies. But what happened to you just does not seem very fair at all. I can't imagine a rescue that only adopted in pairs. I was probably meant to be and you will see something else that is perfect will come along.

i think that rule is to make sure the kittens have a pal to grow up together with and to play with.

Now he has to take allergy shots once a week.... I still feel so badly If your finance is only mildly affected and wants to have a cat too, then I would still keep trying ! a cat is a great compainion ! the rescue lady did screw you over, and I would be quite pissed off it it was me! She did not need to do that, but did not care that it would cause you great heartache in the end. I hate people who are dishonest ! You had every right to question her motivations , and ethics. Shame of her! I hope this does not discourage you from looking , and you will find the perfect kitty to bring home! Best wishes to you, and I am sorry that that "rescue" did not work out, and for her to play mind games with you! That is totally wrong !

| I don't understand the reasoning unless they were afraid your boyfriends allergy would get in the way, and you'd have to give them up. They have tons of cute kittys at the ASPCA shelters that could really use a good home.

| yorkiepuppie, who did this?? Let me go get my boxing gloves Kidding aside, do you think they maybe didn't know what a 'ragdoll' looked like or how expensive they are (I love them too) and that made the difference. Did it say'ragdoll' in the ad or did you just know by looking at it? With people losing their homes and all the dogs and cats in shelters, I think they should lossen up a bit. I don't want to bad mouth shelters either but I saw a little yorkie at a shelter and filled the application out a couple months after I lost Crystal. I loaded them down with information and pictures, great recommendations but they said 'no' because she died at 14 yrs old in an accident. I said doesn't it count that she had the best care for all those years and was treated like a queen. That little yorkie needed a home so badly but that was that. I really didn't want another for much longer than a couple months but when I saw this sad situation it changed my mind. It may have just been that rescue but I was much more sad for the yorkie than me.

| Update i have been looking for a couple of other cats within the rescue and have requested info. from the foster moms. and at this point i am really annoyed with the way people at rescues act. they started bringing up issues that had already been addressed. now one foster mom is having issue with my dog, saying that the cat would do well with the bunnies, but she thinks the dog is too much. even though i have already explained that the dog is more friendly than the bunnies, and even though it might be hard to believe but it's the truth. I have been honest with them all this time, and they are really making me angry. i do work with another rescue and adopt bunnies from them, and even though they really like me, i also feel that they are kind of snobby the way they treat potential adopters. is it because people LIE to them way too often!? they don't trust what people tell them. i have been honest with them, but have come to the realization that maybe these people do not deserve honesty. they definitely make me feel like i am being punished for telling the truth about everything! even the rescue that i adopt bunnies from, a lot of times the way they talk to people seems pushy and condescending. WHAT IS THE DEAL!?!? my best guess is that they've had too many people lie to them about things, and now they trust no one? so when i tell them i have a friendly dog, they think i am lying or WAY exaggerating!?

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | That is AWFUL! I've never heard of that!!! and I don't understand it! It's one thing to just flat out tell you they didn't want to place the cats with you. OR they could have said "We think you're a likeable person but the home situation isn't ideal." or "There are other candidates who we think would suit the kittens better." but there is absolutely NO reason to string you along like that and lead you to believe you are getting one of the cats. This was just hurtful. I don't understand it at all and I hope you are able to find your kitten really soon. Big hugs!

Thor's Human Donating Member | I surprised that they haven't met your dog? I would think the rescue would want your family to meet a prospective pet. I don't like the sound of this shelter. Is there another one in the area you can work with? Come to SF and take a look at the shelter I volunteer at! |

| Maybe at the end of it all, they were worried that you might adopt the kittens, find out that your fiance couldnt live with them, and then have to rehome them.? The rescue kennels near me are very strict, almost as if they are trying to talk you out of rehoming. I think their hearts are in the right place, although they sometimes dont quite go about things the right way. I guess the animals in rescue kennels have nearly always been through heartache, and everyone is trying to make sure they find their forever home next time. |
