| ![]() I am the servant to Henna, our 2 year old chocolate female! I have had the black/tan before as well, I don't find any difference as far as the breed is concerned. You decide what you want, a price your willing to pay and then seek out to find a breeder you feel comfortable with and instills confidence in you by the answers to the questions you have. The most important thing is to do what you want, it's your money and it will be your baby. As with anything, prices go up year by year; my first yorkie was free, the next we paid $500 and Henna was $1000. I think their ALL beautiful, I just love YORKIES!! |

| ![]() When I purchased my first yorkie, I was clueless about the breed. I did it from a practical point of view, because I wanted an inside dog without the shedding, and yorkies were just the cutest things to me. I looked around for reputable breeders and located one a couple of hours from me with a good price. When I went to put a deposit on the next litter to be born, the mom actually went into labor and I got to see my puppy born. As soon as she came out, I knew I wanted her, because she was different than her littermates, she was blue and tan instead of black and tan. The breeder seemed worried, because of the color difference and didn't want to sell her to me, but I talked her into it. I have since researched blue born yorkies and EVERYTHING I've read tells people to steer clear because most cases are fatal. Had I read these things back then, I would have never brought that puppy home. But, I did bring her home and she has been the best pet I have ever had. She went through a dark grey and tan phase, but she was never the "standard" color. She is now completely silver and white, and unless I have her hair fixed with a topknot, she doesn't really look like a yorkie. Does that make me love her any less? Hell no! She didn't ask to be born that way, but she was and I think she's beautiful, no matter if she's "standard" or not. Now, if the breeder had tried to charge me twice the amount for the "rare" color, that would have been another story, but she didn't. She even knocked a couple hundred off because she was just as surprised at the coloration. Silvia has always been healthy, just very small (2lbs 13oz), and the only downfall to her coloration has been the thinning/fuzzy hair on her back. Everywhere else, she has the longer shiny/silky hair, but the hair on her back will not grow and you can see her skin, so I tend to keep her cut pretty short so as she doesn't look retarded! (I think it's cute!) Anyway, just my two cents!

| ![]() It's really upsetting how parti yorkie "haters" have ruined this site for those who appreciate the parti yorkie. Whatever happened to if you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all. If you haven't researched parti yorkie history it's not a good idea to post comments about it. The AKC DNA tested parti yorkies before allowing them to be registered, and at that point the standard should have been changed. I think it's odd that the standard mentions a white spot under a certain size is allowed on the chest, since this is a sign of a parti carrier. Stating that partis don't look like standards is funny since most litters are a mix of both. I've seen both parti, chocolate, and standard yorkies that aren't very attractive dogs, or good examples of the breed. Parti yorkies are here to stay, and no amount of nasty comments are going to change that. The AKC did their homework they wouldn't just allow mutts to be registered. Now I just wish everyone else would too. |

| ![]() My yorkie is black and tan with some whitish cream color on the top of her head. I could care less if my baby is "standard" color or not, she's gorgeous, I love her and she def has that spunky yorkie attitude! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() I'm against the breeding for other things that are not standard, as well. For example, if a breeder decided to breed for a drooping ear, I would not approve of that either, I personally think the drooping ear is adorable and I'm not against those dogs, or any other dog that doesn't meet standard. I believe no breeder should breed for things that aren't standard. I think there is a clear difference. If someone loves a specific trait so much that they think standard should be changed, I believe they should find a breed whose standard incorporates this trait. I really think there are too many pets in this country now, and breeding should have a goal beyond producing pets. Some parti breeders seem to have a goal higher than just producing more pets, but I don't think they market their dogs as rare, and I think they do try to follow the rules of ethical breeding.
