| This is getting ugly really fast... I am confused about all the color talk. I am not one for breeding, as ours is a pet, and I don't care about pedigrees as long as she is healthy. I guess I don't belong here?

| The best way to find out about potential health hazards is to get to know off colored breeders and their dogs. Don't trust everything you hear, especially things you hear from people who have never even met an off colored Yorkie. |

| I have a beautiful little yorkie . . . he is going to be seven months old on the 4th of March . . . and so far he is a "standard" color. However . . . I am in love with the Biewers. What is the difference between the Biewers and the parti-colored yorkies. They look the same? I try to stay away from these threads . . . but I have had this question for a while and finally got the nerve to ask.

| ShelbyPickles - of course you belong here! Please don't let some very opinionated people run you off. There are some that have very strong beliefs in the standard and do not see any deviation from that as being ok. There are some that realize that genetics plays a role in breeding and some genetic material will pass that is no necessarily in line with breed standard. These are debates are bigger than YT. What is more important is that you are here, that you love your baby, as we all do. Welcome!

| How Long have Parti Yorkies been around. Do we have members who own an Older Parti. Just Curious about health. AKC have accepted many new breeds wonder if one day they will accept Parti's. Is'nt Chinese Crested now considered a BREED. |

| Missiemiss- Thanks, I just don't get all the hostility over how much of a certain color is on a dog. But I am new to the world of Yorkies so I may just not get it. Ours was a rescue here in Korea, so...I wasn't concerned about if she conformed to the standard just that she was healthy and happy. Which she is. (Best 50,000 won we have ever paid -roughly 33.00 bucks American) The only dog I have ever paid more than 100 bucks for is my Jack Russell and they don't really have many standards on color. It is pretty much a free for all. I do have a question on coloring. Shelby has some grey/silver undertone on her head. She is 4 months old. Is this normal?

| Manalos Mom - yes, there are some of us on site that have parti's. Some that have Biewers and others with goldens. shelbyPickles (BTW - I LOVE THE NAME!) The hostility is over the values of each breeder - I think people do not like them questioned and it's easy to do that online, hiding behind a keyboard. Enjoy your baby - love it and appreciate it every day. Just know the hostility comes from the passion of each person and how they feel about Yorkies. I too am passionate but have no longer felt the need to try to "sell" someone on something they don't agree with. I just love what I have, try to improve their health at all times and appreciate every day I have with them. One of my males had the silver/gray undertones - it was almost white! ONce he reached adulthood he turned tan. He's gorgeous - tan and steel blue.

| Biewers originated from Germany and are mixed with other breed/s, while parti's are a result of a recessive gene that resides in Yorkie DNA. They look similar from afar but Biewers have a set standard in color markings, which can be easily found if you look it up on google. Biewers cannot be registered with the AKC, whereas parti Yorkies can as they are Yorkies. Biewers are several pounds bigger on average and stockier. Many say they that Shih Tzu's were mixed into their lineage. |

In Korea there are TONS of Yorkies(or at least ones that look like Yorkies) and there is always at least one store that is dedicated to clothing for dogs. The bunny outfit was like 10,000 won(like 6 bucks American).

| I personally do not own or have seen a rare colored yorkie. so I cannot speak about health related issues with them. but I do realized from this site that most parti yorkie breeders are charging more simply because supply/demand retio is low, I just cannot justify that to myself. I would rather pay extra for a yorkie that has very close to standards features. I do own a blue/grey color chihuahua, which is considered "rare" in chihuahuas (with the exception that AKC recognizes all colors in chihuahuas). her vet has told me about all the extra skin issues with these "rare" colored ones, and my girl is only 4 and is already losing tons of hair! so "rare" does not necessarily mean good!

| The AKC does accept parti's and have allowed them to be registered as Yorkies for several years already. They just won't let them be shown in the ring. In contrast, pretty much any colored Chinese Crested can be shown in the ring. |

| On a side note because this thread is getting a little shakey, I am not AKC registered ( LOL) but both my parents are medium skinned ( skin people) with very very dark hair, I have flaming redhair and lots and lots of freckles... maybe yorkies are the same. Just because thier parents look one way there has to be a blood line like humans that can cause them to look different then thier parents do.. ya think maybe Im adopted and they forgot to tell me |
