| ![]() Keelymomma, trust me I'm not against any certain dogs. Like I said in my previous post, I blame the owners. Matter of fact, I'm sitting here at work with a copy of the latest Sports Illustrated with Jasmine the pit bull on the cover. They have a beautiful story about Vick's dogs in there. Alot of them have been saved from euth, rehabed and have loving dedicated homes. I'm not sure if his ears were cropped. When I told DH how he ran up and immediately grabbed Merlot's neck, that was his first thought. He thought that the dog was probably doing what it was taught to do. Quote:
This is exactly what I told DH. When Merlot's wounds are all healed, I'm treating him to a doggie massage and proper grooming. Lucy of course too! His hair is all lopsided from the shaving and he has'nt been able to have a bath since the accident. I've also read that massaging helps with healing! Quote:
The strength of these dogs are amazing. With me holding both it's legs, someone kicking it and then beating it in the head, it still was going strong.
I think all animals are unpredictable trained or not trained. Animals are very unpredictable and that's why there are leash laws. Unfortunately people don't abide by them. It should not be taken out on just one breed it can happen with any breed. It just happens to be then when it happens with a pitt its alot worst. I dont believe pitts should be banned, I just think not anyone should be allowed to own one. Just my opinion, I love all animals.
Me too! Last edited by speck103; 12-30-2008 at 02:42 PM. | ||

I am a owner of a Pit Bull and untrained and stupid owners are what has given these dogs bad names. I have had more problems with German Shepards than what I ever have had with a Pit. As a child the age of 2 my face was eaten by a German Shepard and that is the dog that killed my Yorkie Teddy this last June. Do I wish to see them banned??? NO....it is the owners of ANY dog that needs to be punished. I do not tolerate violence in any dog wether it is big or little. I have seen more attacks from little dogs than what I do out of the big ones, but the difference is the damage that is done. Because Pits are in the media so frequently, people automatically assume they are bad dogs and they are not, if they are trained and taken care of. In the hands of certain people, they can be. Yes, mine is scared to death of other dogs....I know this and she goes NO WHERE that other animals are going to be at. She does not get to be left unattended at any time and if I am gone, she is crated. Have I had any problems...NO....but I don't take chances either. OP....I am so sorry that this happened to your dog and it should not have. You have every right to seek damages since they are responsible for it. Good luck and I hope your baby continues to improve. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.

This is a very unpredictable breed, no matter how good or responsible the owners are.

| ![]() I havent read everyones replies but I wanted to say how sorry I am that you both had to go through this. The owners of the dog should be 100% percent responsible for all your vet bills and more. I feel however obligated to defend the dog who attacked you though. As everyone i'm sure agrees no dog is born aggressive. His/her owners are the ones to be blamed. I have worked at a nokill shelter for 3yrs and have been around many pits and truly believe they are no more aggressive than any other breeds. Actually it tends to be our toy breed dogs with the most aggression issues! ![]() Again I am so sorry you had to go through this. In the end it's always the animals that suffer for peoples ignorance.
