I havent read everyones replies but I wanted to say how sorry I am that you both had to go through this. The owners of the dog should be 100% percent responsible for all your vet bills and more. I have worked at a nokill shelter for 3yrs and have been around many pits and truly believe they are no more aggressive than any other breeds. Actually it tends to be our toy breed dogs with the most aggression issues! The difference between the toy dogs aggression and a pits is their physical capabilities. A yorkie may bite you 20 times before actually puncturing you but a pit has a strong enough jaw to take your skin off. Owners are the problem. Period.

Again I am so sorry you had to go through this. In the end it's always the animals that suffer for peoples ignorance.
