I am sure there are many, many parents of children that were grossly disfigured from their cherished family pet that were perfectly good owners that might disagree with that.
Like I said before, I had 2 pits at 2 different times, both turned bad. My mother in laws neighbors 2 pits almost took her leg off, and my good friends dog nearly scalped her best friend. All of these dogs were in good families with good owners.

Pittbulls are banned in ONTARIO. Any pittbull born after 2004 in ontario will be pts. Any pittbull going into ontario will be PTS. There are NO muzzle laws in NFLD or in BC .. Quebec has Muzzle laws but no breed ban. BSL should be put to sleep in my opinion.

How many car accidents occur daily? Hundreds? Regardless.. how many of the stories make it to the papers?

But when one plane crashes it's all over the news and everybody panics about flying.

There are hundreds of dog attacks occuring all of the world on a daily basis and guess which ones make the paper?

I work with dogs on a daily basis. Every breed every day. A dogs behavior isn't bound by his breed. It's his owner who determines his success or his demise.

There are dangerous pits. There are dangerous poms. But luckily for those aggressive poms their jaws are pretty weak so they get off easily. Sadly, at the end of the day no matter what anyones opinions are guess who suffers?

The only way to truly weed out irresponsible owners is to require testing. CGC testing should be a requirement for owners of dogs deemed 'dangerous'. The Canine Good Citizens test is an excellent way to determine if the owner and their dog are both well trained.

These attacks aren't only by pits. But dalmatians, chows, shepherds, rotts, spitz, even labs. How many children are attacked by small dogs? There's a reason why shelters have a hard time placing small dogs with familys that have children. And no it's not bc they might step on them. It's bc they can be unpredictable and can lash out.

Obviously this is a lost cause for people who have already set their minds in place by personal episodes.

It's sad but I suppose that's the way it is.

Guys...it's great that you all have opinions and whatnot on this subject, as it is a very important subject. But let's try to keep this thread about the poor dog that was attacked. This woman is going through something really hard right now and we are supposed to be here to support her.

To the OP: I am so very sorry for all that you've gone through. I hope that justice can be gotten for your sweet baby. I am very glad that your little one survived this attack and I hope that he has a wonderful quality of life despite his injury. Big hugs for you.
