Matter of fact, I'm sitting here at work with a copy of the latest Sports Illustrated with Jasmine the pit bull on the cover. They have a beautiful story about Vick's dogs in there. Alot of them have been saved from euth, rehabed and have loving dedicated homes.

I'm not sure if his ears were cropped. When I told DH how he ran up and immediately grabbed Merlot's neck, that was his first thought. He thought that the dog was probably doing what it was taught to do.

Thank You for that. It takes a very special person to still not blame the breed even when you are a victom of an attack. I commend you for that! .. It does sound to me that he may have been used as a dog fighting dog. Maybe even by past owners (if hes had any) .. The dogs that are bred and trained for fighting have incredible drive and have a very HIGH pain tolerance. Because alot have been beaten since they left there mothers for that purpose. It sounds to me that he knew what he was "suposed to do" and wasnt going to stop until it was done. And that is a trait of a fighting dog. That was a very good move for you to make, I mean grabbing his back legs. It USSUALLY causes the dog to surrender or at the very least throw him off track. I think You did a great job with protecting your boy! And I have a very high respect for that I wish you the best of luck. And I hope that the owners take full responsibility for vet bills and give up there dog to somebody with the proper knowledge to handle him.
