| ![]() To the OP, don't get frustrated, the perfect little rescue is waiting for you somewhere. I've been looking also, and will admit that a younger pup would be ideal, but I'm open to adopting an older yorkie too... I do have 1 criteria, It has to be a boy!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() In all seriousness, there are lots of places to check, petfinder is great but you can also check your local shelters they sometimes have cute yorkies and yorkie mixes, and if was meant to be they'll be sitting there when you arrive!! Just be optomistic and keep looking. Then you and I can celebrate finding our perfect little rescues!!!

| ![]() Oh, and I forgot to add petharbor.com sometimes you can also check the "I Lost My Pet" section when doing your search. These babies are not up for adoption, BUT, if their owner is not found, or refuses to pick them up, they will be. Even if they are on hold, if you express interest some shelters will let you fill out an adoption application before the hold period ends and consider you when the doggie is available for adoption. Sometimes this is why they are gone before you get there. Hope this helps!!

| ![]() I've had rescue dogs in the past and they are just as wonderful as one from a breeder. I actually found an adorable little guy yesterday on pet finder in my area that I want to adopt (he's 15 months), but my hubby is not having it. He only had one dog growing up (a rotty that was an outside dog!), but now we have Deegan. He just thinks that rescue dogs are somehow "damaged" or will have behavioral problems or something & only wants to adopt from a breeder. Plus he really likes the puppy stage too and as most rescuse are older, he won't agree to getting this one I found yesterday. I'm so angry and trying to convince him that any dog can have issues regardles of being rescues or not... I want him to experience how great it feel to give a second chance to a lonely homeless pup, but I'm not making any progress with him. If anyone has any ideas on how I might change his mind, please let me know. I really, really want to adopt the lil one on pet finder.

| ![]() I have two rehomes and two rescues. My most recent rescue is Gizmo. We adopted him from PAWS about a month ago! He was found in a parking lot of a Chuckie Cheese all full of matts and fleas and just skin and bones! He is a precious little dog that just wants to be held and loved. Anyone that askes about where I got my dogs, I tell them, and encourage them to rescue as well. I wouldn't have it any other way!

| ![]() My first rescue was Toby, a schnauzer mix. He was my baby...r.i.p. Toby-Tobe. ![]() ![]() Both of my daughters also have rescue dogs...Zig the silky terrier was rehomed because his mom had to go to the nursing home - he is the best little dog I've ever seen! Then there's Peanut the chi, and Diesel the boxer - he's gorgeous and so well-behaved. His family didn't want him because he has a scar on his haunches. ![]() First pic is Tucker (he always steals Olivia's pink blanket!) and 2nd pic is Olivia.

Thor's Human Donating Member | ![]() DeegansMom, here are some things that might help your husband: - If you read these boards, you'll see that sadly, some people do not take pet ownership seriously and abandon their dogs for incredibly trivial reasons. There's no reason to think a rescue is particularly damaged. - I volunteer at a no-kill shelter that gets its pets from other shelters in the area that do euthanize. Ie, someone goes and gets the dogs who are on the chopping block. So you'd think these dogs are the least desirable, right? After all, they ended up at a shelter AND were not selected once at that shelter. But seriously, I'm stunned at how great these animals are, and they are often gorgeous as well. It blows my mind that these animals, which end up being fabulous pets, almost lost their lives. - In these rough economic times, many more animals are abandoned simply because people cannot afford to care for them. - On a more positive note, if you rescue an animal, it is more of a known quantity. The shelter will be up front with you about any issues it's observed, and will probably ask your entire family to meet the dog to ensure a good match. Best of luck to you! There's a special place in heaven for people who rescue pets. |

| ![]() Wow! What a handsome boy George is! He really looks like he improved with some tender loving care! Good for you Ladyjane for taking him in! To Quicksilver - Hopefully I'll be able to change my husbands mind - he just isn't getting how important this is to me. He noticed I was upset and sniffling about it yesterday and just rambled on about his reasons why he doesn't want another dog right now... I understand that it involves him too & he will be doing some of the care taking, but it's like his heart is made of stone - he says someone else will adopt the lil' guy. But I know that I could give him a great home, probably better than alot of other people would be willing to do. But I'm still keeping my fingers crossed...
