| ![]() Our little town of Lompoc is nestled in a little valley and surrounded by hills. There are all kids of animals running around town. Lately the cougar has been spotted as well. I live 4 miles from Lompoc up in the hills in a tiny bedroom community nestled smack dab down in the wooded area. Just two blocks from me in two directions there are woods and more hills with coyotes singing their songs most every night. My girls don't even pay them any attention as they are just too use to hearing them. I love being here with all the wild creatures, but I don't take any chances with my girls. They go out, I go out! ![]()

| ![]() Please be careful even if your babies are on leash, not far from us several people have been followed or even had their pets grabbed by coyotes- while walking them on leash. These animals are hungry and they don't need a lot of cover. You know those walking trails in the planned communities, the ones with trees and brush right up to the walkways? Thats where these attacks happened. I'm not trying to scare you or gross anyone out ![]() |

| ![]() Ughhh! Coyotes! I hear them a lot at night. My parents have lost a couple of cats to what we think were coyotes. If she doesn't get all the animals in all night she's up all night scared!

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() We used to live on 2 1/2 acres in the AZ desert with lots of coyotes around. Once in broad daylight with me sitting on the porch one came into the yard just a few feet away and started eating something I had put out for the dog we had then. The dog went up to it and it scared the dog off and she was as big as the coyote. She was at least 50 pounds as she was half Sharpei and half Pitt Bull. She didn't have a mean bone in her body, we'd raised her to be a pet not a fighter. The coyotes ate alot of our neighbors cats as well from what we heard. I don't think they'd think twice about snapping up a little Yorkie. |

| ![]() We have coyotes too and the latest visitor is a Sow with 4 cubs This was the middle of the day... and We live in a rather urban area of a small town. My neighbors are rather close on 3 sides the back is woods. The animals are just getting pushed out of their habitat too. I Don't dare let my babies out without supervision. They are even warning parents about letting little kids out alone.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() About 6 years ago a raccoon tried to attack our little Rusty but our Dallas ( lab/shepard mix) came around the corner and the raccoon ran. Rusty was soooo scared. I was right there at the time! So even a raccoon can be a problem. You just can't trust anyone or anything with a small dog.

| ![]() They're all over the south which was unheard of years ago. We've seen them many times in our area and just 2 yrs. ago one went through our yard. Scared me to death and I guarded every step Scooter took. In one town in our county they killed several small dogs a few years back. Last week there was a segment on the news where the NC mountains were full of them. One farmer had to give up his sheep because the coyotes had killed so many. When the cameras scanned the distance you could see them. Very, very scary.

| ![]() I forgot to add that 2 weeks ago we had a bear and 2 cubs near the dumpsters at our local hospital. we have a friend who's a nurse there and it's not a small hospital either. Don't know about you guys but I'm getting spooked here.

I am an animal lover like the rest of us but I have to say when family is threatened then something has to be done. AND the athorities don't do anything around here. They arrested a man who hit a bear with his car. It wasn't his fault the darn bear was in the road. The man wasn't drinking or anything. But bears are protected in our county. Not the county next to ours which is where they are coming from. Weird.. I don't know why. We didn't have a coycote hunting season before last year either. I know this is really a whole other thread but just my humble opinion. I have an avid hunting family and we thank God for our kills and for our skill in the hunt. I taught them that when they were little. We also have deep love of all of Gods creatures but they do have their place in the chain of life. this is just my humble opinion. thanks for listening.
