Same thing happened here~ a lady was walking her Jack Russell puppy and ONE coyote came up from behind and grabbed the little dog and took off with it. Also, coyotes can jump over fences (I didn't realize this until a couple of weeks ago) so just be VERY careful. We have lots of wild rabbits that come into our yard (no matter how I try to discourage it) which I'm sure are one of the staples of the coyotes in this area....I'd never really seen a coyote right around our neighborhood, until last weekend when I saw one that had been hit by a car just about a block from me....that doesn't make me feel very good!
