| Biewer Terrier or Biewer Yorkshire Terrier Would you consider this breed a Biewer Terrier or a Biewer Yorkshire Terrier? Would you consider them two different breeds? |

| I consider the Biewer a Yorkshire and do not consider than two different breeds. A poll has already been started on Biewer Talk, a sister forum to Yorkie Talk and it would be great if everyone could respond there to see how the Biewer community (breeders/pet owners) feel about their Biewers. I guess I would have to ask the question if someone does not believe they are Yorkies then why would people be posting on Yorkie Talk? What do you have? - BiewerTalk.com Forums - Biewer Terrier Forum

| Unfortunately BiewerTalk has become very close to being a closed forum banning members that do not agree with the moderator's point of view. Thus, by putting it on this forum it is open to all that want to express their opinion. I hope that YorkieTalk always is the place where people can come and express their views. If you read the heading, that is why it is on YorkieTalk. |

The moderator posted on BT why people are banned or suspended I believe the Biewer is a Biewer Yorkshire A La Pom Pon, as the original standard was written by the first (Werner Biewer) breeder in Germany to breed these exquisite little Yorkshires.

| Actually if I am not mistaken.. Biewer Talk is a spin off from Yorkie Talk and was founded by the same people and moderators. Please someone correct me if I am wrong. Quote:

| Biewertalk is a sister site of Yorkietalk. The rules and guidelines for all sites are similar and people are banned/suspended for not following those rules. As I previously stated on biewertalk please keep this on topic. Thank you~ |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Why does the conversation about Biewers vs Yorkies turn into such battles I wonder ? I would think the people who are involved in Biewers would be helping each other rather than all the baskstabbing I see. I don't mean in this thread per se - but I see it all the time in other threads & for sure on other sites here on YT - most people don't know all the drama involved... nor do they care... each dog is beautiful in it's own way but to carry something from another site to here isn't right....there's just a handful involved that have strong feelings about this (and MAN ...they have REALLY STRONG feelings LOL) I've always thought they were the Yorkshire breed ...but now with all the complicated posts and arguing back and forth I don't know anymore and am past caring lol - sorry - but that's an opinion ONLY...It lost interest for me a long time ago after all the bickering. I DO like seeing them - and in my opinion - I've seen some that were just gorgeous - and seen some where I really wondered WHAT WERE THEY THINKING ??? (Just like our yorkie breed) Cindy & Amber - good posts... ps....we don't diss our moderators - they have a really hard job babysitting all us grown adults !

| :I guess I am pretty stupid... I do not know the difference between breeds, or really know about the other one.. However, it is very educational to find out. i love my yorkie so much, I find this site extemley benifical to new owners and to people who love their Yorkies. However, I agree it is NOT right to bring up subject matter that is not helpful, and from other sites, just to start up bickering. |

| [QUOTE=red98vett;2038143]Why does the conversation about Biewers vs Yorkies turn into such battles I wonder ? QUOTE] It is real simple to me...it is all about trying to get the Biewers into AKC and being the parent club and controlling everything about the Biewers. It becomes very clear if you read the rules for bringing in a new breed to the AKC via FSS. In my personal opinion these dogs are not anywhere near ready to go AKC until we understand all the health issues with these dogs and we have enough good breeders that are into their 5th generation breedings to see what is going on. We have to many breeders that have never bred before just throwing dogs together and they do not have a clue about line breeding or inbreeding and what the results could be. We have breeders that cannot read a pedigree so it is real scary what they are putting together. I do think it is sad for the dogs what is going on but power and money seem to override the concern for the dogs.

| I have a biewer yorkshire.. I agree the moderators work very hard to keep both forums drama free and to the topic! I do not think that they are thanked enough for their dedication to do this for service for all of us. Nor do I feel that moderators and administration should be blamed for other's actions of not following the rules. mscat this is a biewer.

| Cindy You make some very valid points, the amount of new Biewer Breeders popping up is frightening to me. One only has to visit puppyfind and browse through the adds to see some less than worthy dogs being sold as "show- breeding quality" In less than a few years we are seeing some breeders who have already run through the entire alphabet ,with the amound of litters they have produced * sigh*Like you I really believe in taking it slow with the breed and see how it develop's structurally as well as health wise. I aquired my first two Biewers in the summer of 2006 and I am still not planning a litter, I have made a personal decision to exhibit and show for this year.I do not more than my fair share of breeders involved with the breed, and I can count on my hands the ones who after 3 years are only just starting to produce litters. This speaks volumnes to me.And I agree regarding AKC what is the hurry? The Biewers have been a breed of there own since hitting North American soil, and have been shown under the different venues since 2003.I love the "Rare Breed show atmosphere, very laid back. Everyone is helpful and friendly, with 4 venues for Biewer Fanciers to choose from in which to show, I really believe it gives us all an opportunity to take our time and make sure we do things right the first time. Just my opinion Jan [quote=livingdustmops;2038166] Quote:
