| What SMALL handful are you talking about Diana? I have ask you before what is small? 10, 20, 30, 50 ??? How many people have the BTCA members talked to before coming to this decision? What's happened is a SMAll group of people all use to say, we will abide by the standard set by Mr. and Mrs. Biewer on their web sites. As soon as the BTCA, Inc. representatives visited Mrs. Biewer, they all removed her name as though she didn't exist. How rude and disrespectful can a person be? It's all vanity. The standard they now use(United Kennel Club International) was written by 2 Mi Ki breeders, not even anyone that knows anything about Biewers. This SMALL group of people no matter what happens will oppose anything that the BTCA does, for what reasons? What is every one doing to advance the breed? How are they improving their breeding programs? Who has taken the KNOWN L.S. lines out of their breeding programs. |

MaryLee The BBCI has a Biewer Health Registry, feel free to contact them. We welcome you to the Biewer Breed Club International...Exclusively breeding Biewer to Biewer! Most people are willing to share pedigree information, I myself imported a little girl in 2006 who sadly was diagnosed with a livershunt. You can read about her on my website. I do have her pedigree posted. Jan

I'm so sorry to hear she had LS but glad she's doing so well - what a gorgeous face she has - she has what I consider in my 'peon & uneducated' mind (except for what I've read about Biewers)... 'the look' ....she is a very beautiful little dog | |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | So how do you pronounce "Biewer? Some people say it rhymes with "diva", but with a B, and the R is silent, "Bee-vah" others say it's pronounced Bee-vair. Anybody know?

| There's different dialects in Germany, some pronounce Biva, like Diva, some Bee-vair, I love the way they pronoune the Bee-vair, you just have to have their accent! I just say Biewer, like Viewer. |

| It has also been Americanized to Bee ver. The w sounds like a v. The BBCI's idea of a health registry is fantastic, but unfortunately only a handful of breeders will submit information. I don't understand all of the arguing over Terrier when the Yorkshires are also terriers. The Biewers have always been in a toy or companion group at shows, not terrier groups. IMO Mr. and Mrs. Biewer would do whatever it would take to get the dogs accepted, short of taking the Biewer name off these dogs. The main reason I want the Biewers accepted to AKC is to show the world that we are breeding and raising excellent dogs. Until we can compare them with the best we cannot show that. AKC is the registry with the highest regard in the US, why would we not strive to belong to the best? Many of us already DNA test our dogs, which AKC requires, so why not. Puppymills many times register with CKC because it is free for them (that's right, it does not cost the breeder anything to get CKC papers for their puppies. Also CKC will register a dog as a purebred dog with just pictures and signatures. No proof of the parents.) APRi and APA and others do not have the reputation for quality PUREBRED dogs that AKC has. Unlike what many of you think it is not about $$. |

The Germans have different dialects, I like the way they pronounce it, but can't seem to make it flow off my tongue in that way bee-vair. Since my Yorkie is a little Diva, and I am owned by two Biewers too, I just say I have 2 Biva's and a Diva, LOL. But when someone asks what they are I just call them Biewers in my own dialect.... rhymes with viewers.. lol Here is a video of a german biewer owner pronouncing it: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ion-video.html

Oh thanks, for posting this, but I understood her to say that there is indeed two ways of pronouncing it. At one point she says the other correct way to pronounce it is "bee vair" right before she say "ok boys don't laugh."

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yes, I do, why is it that English always always sounds better with an accent?
