It has also been Americanized to Bee ver. The w sounds like a v.
The BBCI's idea of a health registry is fantastic, but unfortunately only a handful of breeders will submit information.
I don't understand all of the arguing over Terrier when the Yorkshires are also terriers. The Biewers have always been in a toy or companion group at shows, not terrier groups. IMO Mr. and Mrs. Biewer would do whatever it would take to get the dogs accepted, short of taking the Biewer name off these dogs. The main reason I want the Biewers accepted to AKC is to show the world that we are breeding and raising excellent dogs. Until we can compare them with the best we cannot show that. AKC is the registry with the highest regard in the US, why would we not strive to belong to the best? Many of us already DNA test our dogs, which AKC requires, so why not. Puppymills many times register with CKC because it is free for them (that's right, it does not cost the breeder anything to get CKC papers for their puppies. Also CKC will register a dog as a purebred dog with just pictures and signatures. No proof of the parents.) APRi and APA and others do not have the reputation for quality PUREBRED dogs that AKC has. Unlike what many of you think it is not about $$. |
