| I put the crate up on a low table (a sturdy chair works, too) right up at the same level as our bed when mine were puppies. They would calm down when they could see us, and if they did whine a little you can calm them easily. I later bought one of those soft sided crates and put that right between me and my husband (between our pillows), when the pups were recovering from neuter or spay surgery. They felt more secure this way, and we could keep an eye on them. They adjust really fast to going back to their crate on the floor after spending a few nights on our bed. 3Puppies4me |

| I see nothing wrong either with your pup sleeping with you. Tatum has slept with us since the second night. The first night she must have been so tired she didn't realize there was an alternative to the kennel. The second night she realized we were up on the bed and we gave in to her after just a few whines. She has never had an accident in the bed - and that's saying a lot because she has had many in her crate. She learned how to wake us up if she needs to go. I do understand the fear of rolling over on her but I guess we just didn't have that problem. Now Tatum actually prefers to move to the end of the bed to sleep after we fall asleep cuddling. You have to do what you feel is best.

| Yeah, you'll know what is best. That's why I said a lot of people do sleep with them, I know for a fact that I can't. In time, everything will mellow out, you'll see. It is all so new to you and him; but in a couple of weeks you'll know eachother a lot better. Just know that every time he wakes up from sleeping/napping, he will have to pee. You knowing that will help teach him where you expect him to go (on a pad or outside) by repitition. |

| I'd be more concerned about letting him have free roam unsupervised at such a young age. Surely you have things plugged in, if left unsupervised natural chewing (esp. if bored) could result in the loss of your baby. You'd be surprised at what they will chew if left on their own (even the wall and woodwork LOL!) Material from furniture or curtains can lodge in their tummy and result in surgery...I know I'm a worrier but you'd really be surprised by what they can get into. Go for the crate training it helps him learn control and also protects him while your gone. Welcome aboard! |

| PS Also if he's doing his potty all over the place while your not there to direct him he'll think it's OK and training will be difficult. Be sure to get a Nutralizer such as Nature's Miricle to clean any spots where he has gone or he will got back to them....Good Luck. |

| I wish I had some words of wisdom to help.... ...all I can tell you is when I got zeta he slept with me from day one never had a problem with him.... zeta's never even seen a crate....as a matter of fact I loved that I could just look over and see how he was doing late at night without getting out of bed .He still sleeps with me and he is 5 months old, he occiasionally falls asleep on the floor, and I will call him up to to the bed. as for the biting.... when zeta was teeny I would try to pet him and he would think I was playing....I could never really touch him without him trying to bite me. every puppy bites when thier small and will grow out of itI guess I just got lucky.... |

| When I first got my two they were very little , I didnt have a crate I just slept on the floor with them for 2 nites and after that they have both been in my bed with me and Hubby, We still dont own a crate. As for the biting, Thats normal, all puppies and kittys bite they are just playing and dont know how hard they bite some times, the biting will go away when it gets a little older, like some of the others has already said just replace what hes biting with a toy. Good luck. |

| have always slept with me. They were around 2 pounds each when I got them and I have never crated them. I won a beautiful soft sided crate in a rescue raffle and leave it open and in the living room for them if they want it, but usually it is the cat asleep in there LOL. I would not know what to do if the boys were not in bed and waiting for me from the time I announce that it is Night-night time LOL. As for biting and chewing on things, they seem to love wood, coat anything (including your hands) with a clear stick antiperspirant and I can tell you that the chewing on stuff will stop. It works everytime. My boys don't chew anything but toys around here, one taste stops them cold!! |

| I'm a bad example Daisy sleeps at the foot of our bed and sometimes in her bed next to ours. She rings her bell when she needs to go out.

| Just wanted to actually answer batista's question as to why they say it's bad for dogs to sleep in your bed. Disclaimer: this is generalized dog information not specifically yorkie. Experts say it sends a bad message to let a dog sleep with you. You should be the alpha dog in your relationship with your dog, in order to have a well trained well behaved dog. there fore the alpha dog, you, should get the prime sleeping spot, aka the bed. If the dog is allowed to sleep with you the dog will view this as a sign that you are equals. You will then lose your alpha dog status possibly making it harder to train your dog. I know a lot of you sleep with your dogs and i have no problem with that. this is just what i read. Our pup sleeps in his own room in a crate, with the radio on and the door shut. this is how he likes it. He had to sleep in our room one night because my in-laws were in town and he was a wreck because it wasn't what he was used too. after about a week he stopped whining when we put him in the crate. He whines at about 6:30 in the morning now because he needs to go out and potty. but that's okay.

| Poneyup~ Your alpha dog point is well taken. I do like to establish that I am the alpa dog and I have done that. I eat first, I train them to obey, the food is mine, the water is mine, their toys are mine and their treats are mine. I do however let Hefner sleep with me. My poodle and my westie sleep wth my son, Chai sleeps with my daughter and so far, Ava sleeps in a playpen in my room and never has made a peep. I show Hefner what part of the bed he can sleep on and I always get the prime spot. I also don't think a plane flight traumatizes a puppy any more than a car ride does since thay do not know if they are in a car or on a plane when they are in a crate. Princess Chai was flown to me and she was happy and fine when she arrived. Some may argue that a plane is louder but I have been in a lot of very noisy cars. |

| Yorkie Lover Donating Member | The first thing I want to say is Congrats on your little one...you have made a great choice and are very lucky to have the love of a yorkie in your life!!! Now, I would say you need to do whatever is comfortable for you, I personally let my girls sleep in bed with us...we waited until they were a little older and bigger so we knew they would be okay!!! If you decide to crate train that is great, it has worked for so many... For the biting, that is puppy...if you tell them NO!!! and give them a toy they will eventually break the habit...it takes time and constantly!!! Most importantly, have fun and enjoy all your little one has to offer...

| Both of my babies sleep with me since the first day I brought them home. I can't imagine sleeping without them cuddled up between me and Jim. Codie sleeps against my chest and Katie sleeps on my pillow next to my face. As for the biting, most puppies/kittens bite. They're playing. Just don't allow it to get out of hand. Good luck with your new baby!

| After putting puppy to bed in the crate - place a towel over the front of the crate so they can't see out. |
