| ![]() I also live in Florida and have a lot of hawks here on our 6 acres. I have a huge dog run attached to the house and have strung rope cris-cross from side to side and then I put light weight chicken wire on top of that. The rope holds it up over our heads so we can still walk under it. Also, I have had owls come down near them. You need to watch that as well. I have lights all around the fence at night for the dogs, but, I still go out with them. I couldn't bear to lose anyone of my 6 babies in that manner, especially now that we have just had a litter and they will be going out there soon. I would never sleep again. What terrible thoughts these are!!!! Kathy ![]()

| ![]() thank you all for responding and I have learned alot. These wee creatures depend on us for their protection because w/o us they would not survive at all. But look what we get in return from them..........Way too much to type. Love and kisses to all and please be safe out there. |

| ![]() We also have hawk problems, I happened to let the yorkies out and there on the fence was a hawk looking at the two yorkies so I got them inside. They have to go on wee wee pads now I am so afraid the hawk will get them since we have lots of trees in our yard and they sit in the trees watching. |

| ![]() While we were out today going to the mailbox I let Phoenix run around the yard with me sitting next to him in the grass. Before I even let him out I looked to make sure no hawks were flying around. Well less then 5 mins later hawks were everywhere! ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() That sounds terrible!! We have a large owl in our backyard, however, we just watch from the window. I always take Addie out front, so thankfully we have never been close. It never occured to me that any bird would like our babies, I am glad that I read this.

| ![]() I don't know what to tell you. Although I do think the covered pen sounds like a good idea. I have had a scare with animals too. Once, I was taking Sasha out and put her in her little pen to wee wee, because if we don't she gets under the fence and takes off. Anyway, I was standing there waiting and Sasha started to bark at our small tree. It was at night and I couldn't see anything in it, so I told her to be quiet. But then, something fat jumped out of the tree, landed on the ground and raced off! I screamed and my dad came racing out. I grabbed Sasha and ran inside. Then I told him the whole story. I think it was either a raccoon or a possom. Whatever it was it scared the crape out of me and Sasha!

| ![]() Why not try tying a 10 lb dumbell to your little one? That will keep the hawks from getting him/her off the ground! ![]() You know, we could come up will all sorts of hilarious "hawk deterrent" outfits like suits of armor, etc. Could be a fun contest... |

| ![]() Now there is a great idea! Since I make the dog hats with sunglasses, maybe I could make one that has spikes on it so they would poke the hawk if it tried to pick them up. Seriously tho, a few months ago while my yorkie was looking out our sliding glass door at night an owl tried to attack her twice. Kathy

| ![]() that sit on my barn and watch me the whole time I am out with my dogs.... Every area where my dogs play outdoors is covered, but often I take them out for lessons, play, ect... into the open yard a few at a time or a litter of puppies... Those Hawks give me the creeps watching me.....or my dogs rather.... |
