I also live in Florida and have a lot of hawks here on our 6 acres. I have a huge dog run attached to the house and have strung rope cris-cross from side to side and then I put light weight chicken wire on top of that. The rope holds it up over our heads so we can still walk under it. Also, I have had owls come down near them. You need to watch that as well. I have lights all around the fence at night for the dogs, but, I still go out with them. I couldn't bear to lose anyone of my 6 babies in that manner, especially now that we have just had a litter and they will be going out there soon. I would never sleep again.
