| Do you leave your dog alone in a car? I've been reading stories of dogs being dognapped from cars lately. Who in their right mind would leave their dog alone in the car? The poor dogs don't deserve to be dognapped but the people who do this don't even deserve to get their dogs back. |

| I will admit that I leave Laney (my pit mix) in the car, but that is very, very rare, usually just when we are on a trip and I have to run in and use the rest room and I can't take her with me. The same goes for Slade. If you are on a road trip alone, its unavoidable. Sometimes I'll take Slade w/ me on the drive to the post office, but he can't go in. However, the way our post office is set up, it has huge glass windows and I can see him the entire time I'm in there. HOWEVER, if the weather is above 75, I don't take them places where they would have to stay in the car, its way to hot.

| I don't live in a big city and around here, dogs don't get stolen from cars. My dogs love to come with me to run errands and I do leave them in the car for short periods of time, always with the car running for heat or ac. I think your remark about people not deserving to get their dogs back was very harsh and uncalled for.

| I will admit that Murfee has been left in the car...but where we can keep an eye on him. We travel with our camper quite extensively and sometimes when we stop to eat, he can't go in. We are paranoid about leaving him so we either park where we can see the truck or take turns going in.

As another poster said, we will not bring Millie with us when the weather gets warmer, because it's just too hot and poses a medical risk. But in cooler weather, we take her with us everywhere. She has a booster car seat and she will stay quietly waiting for us until we come back. She will usually be in a sweater with a blanket wrapped around her to keep her cozy.

| I have left Pixie in the car when we went to visit some friends for a couple of hours over christmas, they have a large boxer ( and small children!) and i didn't want to take her in, I wasn't happy with leaving her with the In-laws either, who we were staying with at the time, so she came with us and i left her in her travel crate in the back of the car which i covered with a blanket...the car was right outside the house too so i could keep watch! It's not something i would do very often...it's just too risky...i would never forgive myself if she got taken.

| I've left mine in the car long enough to go into a gas station to grab something w/ my car parked and locked in front of the door and within my site, but that's about it. I see dogs all the time that have been left in the car at the grocery store or outside restaurants. Generally though, I don't take mine with me so I don't have that problem. |

| My mom takes her weimereiner everywhere with her. She leaves her in the car with it running & locked. She's not going to get kidnapped because if anyone besides my mom would try to get in they would lose an arm. We don't do this with logan though. I'm not worried about him getting kidnapped because we live in a small town where people don't steal dogs (knock on wood), but we can't leave the car run because Logan knows that if he goes to the driver side control panel he can roll the windows down. He's even learned now to keep depressing the button until the window comes all the way down. There is no way to lock the driver side controls so we can't leave him in there with the car running so if it's cold or hot we don't take him with us anywhere we'd have to leave him in the car.

| The only time I have ever left Chip or Smokey alone in the car is when I can watch the car very closely. Like once I ran in the gas station to get a drink before taking them to the vet and I kept my eyes on the car constantly. They've never been alone for more than 5 minutes and I keep the car running with air/heat, lock the doors, and keep a spare key with me so I can get back in. Chip would tear somebody up that tried to dognap him though. He doesn't like anyone but his family. Smokey would lick 'em to death.
