This is a bit harsh. Just because I might leave my dog in a car, locked with the ac or heat on while I run in to pay for gas or something, doesn't mean if someone breaks into my car, that I don't deserve to take my dog with me. What about when traveling.....I can't take her into the gas station when I have to use the bathroom, or into McDonalds while we eat. I alway have my car in view, and I don't live in a big city or do we travel through big cities. My dogs are my family and I treat them better than most people do with kids. There are many reasons people might leave there animals in the vehicles, you can't make a blanket statement and not get some people riled up. | |

| No sirree If he cant go in where I am going he stays home.. Im afraid of heat and theft and him getting someones attention and thus creating a circle of friends when I walk out of the store and people being gathered all around and I sure do not want that.. We all must be extra careful!

| Never. Read too much horror stories. Don't want to risk it. I'll never forgive myself if someone stole him because I left him in the car. Crazy things can happen ya know. Plus I am not living in a small town so I doubt I'd be able to find him back if someone stole him.

| I've had to do this with Lucy when traveling alone. I don't make it a habit but it has been unavoidable on occasion.

| Never. I would never leave Teddy alone in a car. Too risky.

| And SCARY!!! That's the main reason why I don't leave my babies alone in the car... See, it's already dangerous when hubby and I are right there in the spot, can you imagine if we aren't!? Don't wanna risk it!!! That's just tooo much temptation to an already twisted mind person to take... |

| I take both of my boys with me when ever the weather is nice. If I am running in and out or picking up my kids from school they will stay in the car and wait. I leave the window cracked open. I don't worry about someone taking them. They would have to get pass my Boxer in order to get to Snickers. Seamus is about 80 plus pounds of muscle. He is not a barker, but the stare he gives strangers is enough to make them cross to the other side of the street. He is good natured though.

| um yes, Ive left my dogs alone in my car once or twice for 5 mins... thats it, 5 mins! I won't do it anymore though... unless I run into to pay for gas or something. I hear all those horror stories also and would never leave my dogs in the car while I go into somewhere where i cannot see the car and the dogs from the inside of the place.

| I've done it on a rare occasion and it makes me so nervous. I always lock the doors and keep the car in sight. We most shop where we can take the dog with us - if not we leave her home where she is the most safe. As a side note it still blows my mind how many people leave their dogs in the car when it is too hot. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Both of mine have jobs...they come to work everyday. They ride in crates, in the backseat, my windows are tinted you can't see in...and every morning...I stop and get a cup of coffee. Were someone breaking into my car...it wouldn't be because they know there are yorkies inside. Not to mention...they'd be doing it in full view of alot of people....including myself.

| occasionally i'll leave Layla in the car (never in the summer) in her crate with a blanket covering it. But this is usually to go into the post office or bank or something.. and usually she comes.. so i'd say very rarely. |
