I've left mine in the car long enough to go into a gas station to grab something w/ my car parked and locked in front of the door and within my site, but that's about it.
I see dogs all the time that have been left in the car at the grocery store or outside restaurants.
Generally though, I don't take mine with me so I don't have that problem.
