I agree but even when you say this to some it still can be contridicting not you per say but if you think about it....you still raise and bring up this show dog in a loving home and then you place them elsewhere after so many years though I don't think it's tramactic for them but some may, you see my point? So with that, this subject can be very subjective and we just need to understand we are all going to have differences of opinion on this particular subject and make our own choices like it or not...it's not like breeding which I'm very passionate about making sure it's closest to the standard as you can get!

Breeders have the right to sell their dogs to who they feel is fit, sometimes we will not agree with it sometimes we might. I just feel thats why so many people end up buying from a petshop, no one there will turn them down. Rescues do the same thing sometimes, turn people away because of small children, you dont own your home and have a huge fenced in yard etc. it really is sad and the guidelines are some times wrong but what can you do? not much

You are so right Donna we all have differences of opinion. Bottom line the decisions are ours......we do what we do for various reasons.

We have a rescue centre just down the road (my hubby is in the RAF) who won't rehome to RAF personnel because RAF families have a 'reputation' for moving on and leaving pets behind! I think this is madness! I agree it does happen sometimes, but there are alot of RAF families that would NOT do this and would give a good home to an animal in need.

I have sold puppies to families with children but the children were in my home and respected my home so that tells me something. I have also turned down families with children. Simply because the family was very busy with the children sports and I was concerned the yorkie would be left out. I do take it on an individual situation but be prepared for a no also if I don't feel my puppy is right for a certain individual or family. It will be "MY" decision

One time I posted a thread about a letter/poem I found on craigslist on the pet section, I thought I would share what I thought was a sad poem and it turns out that one YT member was rehoming her pets, I had no idea that someone was having to rehome their pets This letter was not even about rehoming, but more like abandoning your pets in a shelter. I am sorry someone got their feelings hurt.

My Pixie's breeder told me she had turned down a young couple because when they came to her house, she left the room to go make a pot of tea...when she came back the young couple had left the tiny puppy alone on the sofa while looking at her trophys and pictures, she grabbed the pup as quick as she could and told them she couldn't let them have the pup, the couple protested that they would never do it again but ended up leaving in tears! my breeder said that if they did that while she was THERE what would they do at home? I agreed with her.

We all tend to give our opinions based on our own experiences. Your situation is wonderful and you've given your pups a great home. I have based my rules and contract based on statistics. You can never be too careful when you breed. I have an application that must be filled out, a sales agreement that states I have the first right of refusal if they don't want the puppy. If everything looks ok the I have them visit and if my Krissy likes them then it is a go. (Krissy is very sensitive to people).

I have placed puppies in homes with kids and it has turned out wonderful. One puppy went to a doctor that read books, had her own house, could take the dog to work, and seemed perfect. The dog took to her right away. At 10 weeks she took him home. I got a few calls and before Thanksgiving last year at 16 weeks she brought the puppy over for me to baby sit. She then called 4 days later to say she didn't want him after all!

Poor Brody needed so much attention to get back in shape as a puppy without issues. I worked with him for a few weeks to make him a secure happy guy again.

He is over 1 now and the family I placed him the second time bought a house because it has a sun room for their boy! Needless to say he is a happy boy. I was so glad the doctor gave him up!

Wow, just wow. I usually stay out of the drama and these heated threads...but I can't hold it in on this one. I have several things to say.

First of all, WHY is it that nobody can have their OWN opinion about something without getting jumped on? We can ALL have our own thoughts about things and others should RESPECT those thoughts no matter what they are! So making rude comments about each other gets you right down to the level as the person who sent the nasty email.

Second, it is a PERSONAL decision whether or not you want to have children, and I don't think this thread has ANYTHING whatsover to do with that...I can't for the life of me understand why you're jumping on someone for that reason. It's her body, her life. I DO want children, but I personally respect anyone who doesn't, because they have their own reasons. And I REALLY REALLY don't want to get into this...God help me for saying this...but if an "accident" happens, in her case, if she doesn't want a child, there are PLENTY of other options...again, case closed on that one...I DO NOT want to open up that debate.

MY dogs ARE my children right now, and before I got my VERY first one I considered EVERYTHING, including what I would do if I had a child who was allergic. First of all, I don't want children for quite a while. And, while I hope I NEVER have to make that decision, and I'm sure I'll be criticized for this, so here we go...but I wouldn't choose either over the other...call me CRAZY but again my dogs ARE my children, and I WOULD NOT choose my human child over my fur child, or visaversa. I just wouldn't. There are allergy remedies, medicine, etc. now...we are living in 2007...and I KNOW of several people who have dog or cat allergies who are able to have them simply by taking a pill or liquid everyday. Yeah, yeah, go on with the rude comments, I know they're coming. But I WOULD NOT choose, it just wouldn't be an option...

Now, that being said, I also feel that it's, again, a PERSONAL choice whether you rehome your dogs or not. I AM NOT saying that EVERYONE who has a child who's allergic should not rehome their dog(s), I would NEVER say that. It is UP to the individual, not all of you.

And, last thing, I think. What a breeder chooses to do with his/her dogs, WHERE they choose to place them is THEIR decision, and I DO NOT believe that's negotiable. They are the ones who spent countless time and money on bettering their dogs, and they should have EVERY right in the WORLD to decide who their dogs go to. And if you don't like their policy, GET A DOG FROM SOMEONE ELSE! There are PLENTY of dog breeders, good and bad, show and pet quality, who will sell their dogs to someone recently married or with children. There is no reason to argue about that, NOT ONE. It's the breeders business. They raised them, they are the ONLY ones who have a valid point about where they should and will go.
