I can understand your frustration with the potty training issue. I have purchased 7 yorkies ranging in age from 8 weeks to 2 years old and not one of them were potty trained and as of to this day not one of them are potty trained yet. You have to be there to watch them 24/7 which I am not or else keep them caged all of the time and that isnt an option as far as I see it either. We had a brand new house with the nicest carpet because we paid a few thousand dollars extra to upgrade it when we bought the house and it is all ruined. I didnt realize I was going to have dogs when I moved in. On top of that the carpet is a light beige. (Well used to be, now it is beige with yellow polka dots) We will eventually rip it all out and start over with tile or something else but I can hear what you are saying about getting upset and needing to vent. There are days when I think I cant take it either especially when they make it a point to come in from being ouside and pee or poop on the floor as soon as you back is turned or run upstairs and do it where you cant see them. It is enough to drive anyone a little crazy at times. It is very hard to train one when there are others going in the house and since half of mine were at least 8 monts old and not potty trained, it is even harder to get them to learn at that age.

wow your carpet kinda sounds like mine...i sure hope my fur-kids don't tear up my carpet...crossing fingers...

Its not quite as bad since spring is here and we can leave the doors open for them to go outside which they do most of the time but winter is a mess. I spend every weekend shampooing carpets and that is getting old quick so will definately replace the carpet as soon as possible and then I think it will be alot easier to train them.

well i may not have the same problems as you..since all my babies are potty trained..i think...i have 2 maltese (1 female - 3 years old and 1 male 7 years old) .. 1 toy poodle (7 years old) .. and 1 yorkie (2 years old)...

well i can't exaxtly say that...cuz my toy poodle was purchased from the pet store and she has her own way of thinking...so she is not completely pottytrained...

and my yorkie she has a submissive problem...where she will dribble pee when you call her name if she is doing something...so i guess she will have to wear a diaper...

aww man i can see it now...me spending most of my time scrubbing my brand new carpet...argh!

We have an very old carpet here so it doesn't bother us much when there is an accident. But 5 out of 8 are completely trained and 2 are partially trained and will be completely trained soon. The only one who isn't trained is our newest addition Brownie. He has submissive urinating which makes it hard but I am confident with time and more training he will be completely trained too!!
We are trying to make sure they are all trained now because we will be moving soon and will have all new carpets. We are picking up a potty tent soon to see if that helps but I am happy that we have as many trained as we do!! We work really hard with them on their training and it so nice in the end to see all that hard work paid off!!

Toy dogs in general are hard to house train. They have such small bladders. Most of mine have been completely housebroken at 9 months, never had any broken at a younger age. It just takes alot of hard work, patience and time and persistance and it will all work out in the end!! Hang in there and try to stick with one routine, they need stability. Just keep doing the same thing over and over. It may seem like they aren't getting it but one day it will just click, trust me I have went through it several times. If you have any questions I will happy to answer them or if you need any advice just ask.

You know I know how she feels too, but I LOVE my 3 babies and WOULD NEVER get rid of them for NOTHING!!!!!! They are my life and I couldn't imagian life without them!! I mean my 2 was very very hard to train, peed through the puppy pads, made messes on my carpet, oh yeah and that was the living room, lets go to the kitchen!!!!!!!!! This past fall we pulled up the stick down tiles that we got right before getting my babies, well U should of smell the YUCK under it, I mean it was bad where it had seeped through even after me cleaning up the pee!!!!!! I gagged!!!!!!! Really, well we put lamanate flooring down in our living room and kitchen and my Justin put silcone between the planks (I guess that's what U'd call them lol) so if we did have accidents and yes we still do sometimes, few and far between tho, it hopefully won't go through like last time. (And guess what I did a few months after we got the floor down??? A whole big 300 oz jug of Era Laundry det. fell off my dryer while my washer was spinning and busted all over that new floor, oh sure some seeped under the lamanate!!!!!! But I tried my best to get it up but couldn't fast enough......So how can I now say anything about my dogs and their messes!!!!!!! LOL!) Tiffy is one who gets excited when anyone comes in the house and lets it go and pees all over the place yes still @ 2.5 years old, just her she can't help it, but that is part of her and I love her no matter her faults!!!!! Shoot I have tons of faults and she loves me!!!!!! Right??? Yep she does!!!!!! But my dogs are my life, when my girls all get raised then they will be here for me to love and hug and when I'm sad they know it, when I cry they dry my tears....I TELL everyone U don't KNOW LOVE until U've LOVED a YORKIE!!!!!!! I too think she needs to go to another home. At this time in her life she needs understanding!!!!!! Bless her heart she can't help it. Poop my babies still come in sometimes and lets go!! Yeah I tell them NO that's bad but what can we do but love the little/big things! Oh and Justin said if they mess this floor up he's tearing it up and leaving it bare.......LOL Might be a good thing! I feel your pain. My Teddy is 8 1/2 months old and I am home 24/7 (I take care of my hubby's 92 yr old mom who has Alzheimers) and I know when he needs to go potty. I take him out to do his thing BUT if I happen to be busy with my mother-in-law, he will go where he darn well pleases. So, like you, I have tried everything and I do not consider him housebroken. I just happen to know when he needs to go and take him out before that time.

It is VERY frustrating to work sooooo hard at potty training him and it just hasn't happened. I don't know what else to do but catch him before he goes in the house.

And of course I am a bugger for punishment as I just got a 4 month old little girl. No, she is not housebroken either so I am working on both of them. The one good thing with 2 is that they will stay out longer together but after dark is the worst as I do not let them out.

I know what I have said is no help at all but just know you are certainly not alone in this. I have had dogs all of my life and I do believe yorkies are the hardest to housebreak. But they are sooooo loving, loyal and I just can't imagine my life without them.

Generally, I heard that breed is hard to potty train. I've read a lot of posts by people who have trouble with it, well, sometimes I guess we need to be a little more flexible to the limitations of those small dogs... I never thought I'd have a dog that potties inside (neither has my husband

) but as we both work, that turned out to be the only way to go... Pepper would go in his crate as a puppy, so I bent my rules and got an xpen. He has been consistent about going on his pee pad, he had a few acidents around 6-7 months of age but has been accident-free for about 5 months now... He just started pottying outside too, I never insisted on that, he kinda figured it out on his own but I know he'll always need a pee pad. My house is very clean, keeping it that way takes more work now than it did before having Pepper but I don't mind... If I was in your situation though, fighting over the dog and stressed about the wedding preparations, I'd consider if the breed is the right one for me.

my carpet is ruined. and we are renting!!!! but my furbabies just finished what my kids started!

so it will have to be replaced. i got an xpen and put the furbabies in the kitchen. after reading all the responces i'm thinking of crate training then to go outside cause i'm tired of the odoor also!!! good luck!

we have a cream carpet and its old but we just cleaned the pee up with a carpet cleaner and it gets the stains out. i mean skoshi is now trained to go outside but you cant expect a puppy not to have accidents. and actually everyone in my house works and still we have time to train him. We kept him in the master bathroom at first while we were at work. but other than that he has free run of the house and always has. at first it was a lot of accidents of course but gradually we would catch him and make him smell it and make him follow us outside and also we think it was time for him to go outside we would take him. It takes persistence and dedication. he would never use it while he was in the bath room and we knew soon as we got home outside was the first priority and about 20 mins after he eats. and just everytime we think he need to go we will take him. and we always made him follow us to the door and now he goes to the door when he needs to go outside. we cleaned the carpets and i dont think we have any pee stains. you can work and train a dog to go outside. now pee pee pads never worked for us. just constantly taking him outside. it works really. he is 6months now.

we also have alway had small dogs. we had a beagle who would wait no matter how long till we got home to go outside and she would go to the door and bark when she needed to go outside. its just patience and you have to make that your #1 priority. we dont have small kids around either so we have a lot of time to focus on skoshi after work.

Crate her. The only other option is to take her with you everywhere you go. I crate mine in the car sometime, and when we spend the night somewhere ew, and at hotels.....but mostly he is free to roam..and he rarely has an accident.

Yorkies are difficult, but they WANT to please you, they just get excited and forget.

I hate to think that your little dog is somewhere that she is not loved. If you can't resolve this issue, and care for the dog properly, you should give her to a home that will be able to handle her.

What do you mean you crate her in the car? I hope you don't leave her alone in a car? I take my baby everywhere with me that I can, but I don't leave him alone in the car, what with worrying about the temperatures and dognapping.
