Peeing Every 20 Minutes I have a problem that I have had since I brought Toby home at 9 weeks. He pees constantly. He was pee pee pad trained, but for the last month I have been trying to outside train. He goes when you take him outside, but if you don't do it every 20 to 30 minutes he will pee somewhere in the house. I have had his urine checked for bladder infection and such but the tests came back normal. He will pee on the kids bed, dirty laundry on the floor, anywhere. He also used to pee on area rugs, but I have removed every single one...I think he thought they were pee pee pads. I am at my wits end. Will this every get better. He is almost 6 months old now and is not neutered. I have been told this may help if he is marking. He can hold his pee pee because i have him in a crate while at work. Sometimes he doesn't pee in it all day and others just before I get home as it is fresh. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm so glad you posted this, I was actually going to post a question about this in another forum. My mom's maltese is a little over 5 months old, all of a sudden he pees every 15-20 minutes all over the house. We think he may be marking because he was doing so well with his pee pee pad too. We have never actually owned a little boy and had no idea it would start so soon! I made him some belly bands and that makes it nice not to have to worry about him around the house. Do all males start marking at such a young age? I haven't heard anyone else complain about this...

| Mine pees a lot, too, but does it mostly on the pad. I am hoping it will slow down a bit after he gets neutered. I think he does it for a treat. I am trying to slow down on the treats-for-going-potty thing, too.

I listed some on ebay in my store because I made a bunch. Take a look for reference. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=4381281885 Thanks to some help I got on here, as I had never bought a belly band before, it was really easy. Just cut long rectangles of fabric, line them with absorbant fabric (I used flannel) and add velcro to secure. Then you can put a panty liner or something similar to absorb the pee, or you can make up a bunch and just change often and wash so you don't have to use a panty liner. I sewed in an extra few layers of flannel in between the two layers so that we could just use them without the panty liner if we wanted. (You should have seen my dad's face when we told him to put a panty liner in it! HA HA So funny!) The puppy is never in the house without one now and he has never attempted to take it off either.

I dont know if my little guy is odd but he was the easiest to potty train and does not mark in the house he has marked 1 time that I have seen my boys were camping and came home put his sleeping bag on the floor and Jackson went over promtly and peed on it.I have 2 females in the house. He seems to mark our whole yard though all 3 acres so maybe I am a lucky one and he just marks outside!!!!

011011: Just curious, is your boy neutered? My mom's male started to mark the same day I brought my two females over to visit. Don't know if that is a coincidence or not.

Actually he is not I breed him with my females I guess I just got lucky( knock on wood). He was the easiest to train and is the best behaved out of the three, I am home all day long and do day care I am very punctual and consistant when we potty train seems to work the best for me to never slip or miss going potty. Started out every 1/2 hour and then I would write down when he actually went potty and took him out on his potty schedule did this with the girls he learned the fastest, he will poop in the house especialy if I am leaving for they all have seperation anxiety, but only when I leave the house my husband and boys can come and go but not me without alot of noise and freaking out that mom is leaving.

011011: Another question for you.. My mom's male humps the females like crazy, nothing else, just them. Did yours do this, will it ease off? We have to separate them at times because he is so insistant to do this constantly. We will not be neutering him. Just wondering if it is a puppy phase and will get better?

Clicker Training I was wondering if anyone has or is trying this method of training? I have a 5 mth old yorkie and I had a clicker trainer come over Monday to show me the basics. Within 2 minutes she had Benji sit for her. This may not seem like a big deal, but trust me, with Benji it is. If nothing else,he learned what being rewarded with treats is. Since then some other issues we've been having with him (coming when called and not running out the door without permission) have improved a bit. We work and have a lot of other pets/fosters to take care of, but I can't wait til Sunday when I can devote time to this clicker training with Benji and our doxie. Clicker training is a process involving steps you need to take in order to get the final outcome of them obeying your verbal commands or hand signals without always being rewarded with treats. The clicker is just a signal to them that reinforces the reward system. Eventually you do away with the clicker. Check out this site: http://www.clickerlessons.com/index.html

How old is your puppy ? I guess our male when we got him was 10 wks our female was over a year he did not hump her but when he got to be about 4 mths he would hump this little stuffed animal he eventually quit that for our female would hump him a dominence thing. You can usually tell when the females are coming in as ours will hump things toys our male etcc.... Training may help obediance is a good thing our 12 yr old boy is taking our male to 4h and will be shown at the fair .he has been working with him for about a month and I have noticed little changes about him ,waiting to go out the door instead of running through you, he was awful to get in the house but now will quick go and mark the yard and come in which before we would have to go outside and get him to come , now is waiting by the door for us to let him in hope it just keeps getting better. Those clikkers I heard are good they use them for all kinds of animals lions, bears, horses, dogs , cats, dolphins. Have not tried them myself but have seen and heard good things about them. Most training or lesson is followed by a reward. Good luck

011011: Yes, my female maltese humps our male (neutered) golden retriever. It's the funniest thing to see, especially when he stands up and she is still going at it. LOL! The puppy is 5 months old, I think we will start training him not to do it somehow. I will check out clicker training. I didn't know you could show a dog in 4h. I thought it was farm animals. That's great that your son is doing that. Teaches so many good lessons for him and the dog.
