| Has anyone used petsmart training classes? I am looking into obtaining beginning obedience classes for sami, and wanted to know if this will help in the areas of potty training and socializing to help sami not want to attack every dog he see's I would like your opinion on any certain class you can recommend, currently petsmart is offering an 8 week beginning class for 99.00 and I thought taking a class with him could help me benefit as well, because I am so guilty of spoiling him so bad that he is walking all over me.. I really need some advice!! I just moved into my daughters new home and sami is just peeing & pooing everywhere.. I purchased natures miracle and a black light to find and clean and attempt to remove the odor from her home! I am feeling so bad because I cannot get sami re-trained? so any advice would be greatly appreciate!

| Howie is enrolled in Petsmart training classes. He graduated from Puppy Kindergarden in the summer and is now taking the Intermediate class. I like the classes just fine for the price. Howie thinks they're fun. Now, he's not the world's best behaved dog, but as a result of these classes I think he knows that I'm the boss, not HIM. Which, for me, is more important than him knowing how to give me his paw, ya know? So, I'd say go for it. It's been my experience that the other puppy parents in these classes are an interesting bunch and provide me a lot of entertainment... even if they don't know it! LOL. For example, a puppy peed on a guy's lap one time and he squirted his wet pants with disinfectant spray meant for the floor.

| well, honestly.. it all depends on the trainer.. usually petsmart has two or three trainers who just rotate various classes... so go and see how each teaches and find one you love... we did! while they do not focus much on potty training (that is usually in the Puppy Class) they are VERY knowledgbale, however i don't think they will say anything differerent from what you will read on here... crate him until you can trust him... all day if you have to.. let him out to pee.. if he doens't .. back in the crate (with very limited space in it) when he does his buisness HUGE PARTY and praise and then play time... then back out again.. after a while you will know his schedual and be able to predict when he has to go.. but you said he moved. and a lot of ppl on here willl tell you that their dogs regressed with pottying when they moved. as far as socialization.. that is one of their MAIN goals.. we had a schnauzer in our class who was the WORST i had seen.. he barked the whole time and attacked... his :Parents: quit so i don't know what happened.. but if this is the case with your pup.. don't give up and don't feel bad.. one bi*ch in our class complained the whole time about the dog, but he dind't know any better and was scared.. so go check them out and find a trainer you love and tell him/her adhead of time your situation.. maybe you can get in a class that only has 1 or 2 others to start with .. usually they have a wipe board up with when classes are.. and there is sometimes a number circled and that is how many have signed up.. good luck and let us know how it goes. |

| Archie and Willie have been through the Petsmart puppy class and since they haven't mastered everything, and they were the babies in their class, they are still going. That is the one big plus of the Petsmart training (at least locally but I believe it is a corporate policy) --- you can repeat the classes until you and the trainer feel the dog can "graduate". There is no additional charge for repeats. The socialization aspect is invaluable. One little Chihuahua joined Archie and Willie's class since he was developing dog aggression issues after he had completed the puppy class. We are going to try the trainer's suggestion of bringing one of them alternately to class to help Archie and Willie with their separation from each other issues. Their class didn't focus on potty training but the trainer did help with some suggestions for the owners who were having problems with their dogs. I noticed that they did have a class listed as "potty training" for owners --- but I don't know anything about it since that really has not been a problem for my two. I'd suggest you do what I did, go to the store when a class is in progress and watch a bit and talk to the trainers --- see if you think they can offer what you want for you and your dog. |

| I enrolled Maggie in the puppy class and it's been great. She's learned to sit and lay down and we're working with the rest of the commands! Potty training is a class they offer separately. My trainer said they had one recently and the two people who attended were parents of Yorkies! If you're looking for command behavior type training, I'd definitely take the class. If you want more the potty training aspect, I'd sign up for the free class.

| I am happy with Petsmart class too, but actually it all depends on the instructor. She seems very patience yet my dog is very happy because she can play with other dogs. For the $99 price which includes 8 clasess, I think you can't go wrong. |

| We are on the same pace we have gone to 4 of out 8 classes as well .......I think it is good and Bailey is learning, but all I can say is PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!! If Bailey does not have most of the commands down by time the 8 classes is over with I will wait until he has it down before I move him on to the next step anyone knows what age group does the next step stop at after puppy education????

| Our local petsmart is very good. Lucy did not train there, but we should have. The trainer worked with me in the store and gave me the best advice I have received, and I was just shopping! |

| Our PetSmart is very awesome. The trainer is very, very good. She's young (she looks about 16-17 but is probably a little older) - which I originally wondered how much she could know... but she's definitely proven herself over and over. We have come a long way in everything - including potty training. I don't know that they all do this, but we work for 50 minutes on "stuff"... then we have discussion for about 10 minutes. She'll pose a topic, and we take off with it. Once we discussed jumping on people, once it was chewing and digging, pottying a couple times, etc. She always has great suggestions, and Pixie has learned so much... it's unreal. We are a very happy PetSmart Obedient family Also, the socialization is very, very important. Pixie stays inside with 2 cats, so that's her real socialization with other dogs. She really enjoys the time she spends there and loves to sniff butts.

| P.S. We're almost finished with the beginner class. Not sure yet if we'll graduate because my ditz doesn't comprehend "lay down"... but we're making progress

| 6th class here of 8 and I must say I am very happy with what I have learned, its really not the dog being trained but the owner. My dog is much better behaved because I have learned how to teach him I am boss. He is in the intermediate class and is very well socialized. As others have said 99.00 for 8 classes is a bargain. I would recommend them to anyone, but as others have said it really depends on the instructor. Good luck, and enjoy!
