Has anyone used petsmart training classes?

Welll..... Rusty started his class tonight. We had a 3 dogs the size of a boxer, a 2 mth old yorkie, a Lab, and Rusty.

Rusty was scared & hiding from EVERY dog there, including the little yorkie. I was so annoyed. I hope that he doesnt hide & such next week. I am excited though to have met Collin & his momma Tamara. I told Tamara about Yorkie Talk and told her she needs to get on. It is full of info and lots of people who make/sell clothes to fit her Collin, she had mentioned she couldnt find anything to fit him. Hopefully we will see them on here soon.

I will keep you updated on Rusty's progress.

Ludo started his puppy class tonight! There was one other yorkie, two shelties, a dachsund, a HUGE labradoodle, a chinese pug, some other kind of dog and LUDO! A pretty big class.

Ludo peed during class How sad. I thought it was funny how all the dogs interacted. Ludo was the smallest though and we got stuck between the two biggest dogs and I was so so so so so frightened when he was interacting with them.

He did pretty well with all the dogs -- he thinks he is tough.

I think this class is going to be great, but it truly is all in how you use what they are telling you & CONSISTENCY!!!!!!!!

I will let everyone know how things go and if it really is a good investment or not

Rusty will do fine, I promise! Chloe went through the same class, and she did the same thing on the first night. She hid behind me, whimpered, and wouldn't even take a treat from mine or the trainer's hand. And there were some pretty loud barkers in that class. The next week, she was doing better, and by the third week, she was shining through!


Chloe starts intermediate training tonite...I'm hoping she does as well with that!

You'll have a lot of fun with it. Don't worry.

Thanks Misty... I am going to keep positive thoughts. I think next week I will go about 20 minutes early and walk through the store to see if I can get him loosened up before class starts.

Yes, he'll be fine with that. After you keep visiting Petsmart like that, it becomes part of his little world--his place. Once he's more comfortable with that surrounding, he'll be more relaxed.

Here's a blast from our past; my SOS when Chloe went to her first training. I was so freaked by it: "Traumatized by first training session?" thread

But it gets better quickly, and the whole experience with socialization makes it worth it--it really boosts their self-confidence!

PS and Chloe did really great yesterday at her first day of "Intermediate" class at Petsmart.

Thanks for the link to your blast from the past. Interesting reading on there. I got Rusty around a dog tonight. It was in an outdoor setting and I THINK it went ok. There was alot of jumping, spinning, pawing. I had Rusty on his leash so I dont know if he was trying to get away or playing???? At least he had dog interaction, that is waht I was going for.
