Archie and Willie have been through the Petsmart puppy class and since they haven't mastered everything, and they were the babies in their class, they are still going. That is the one big plus of the Petsmart training (at least locally but I believe it is a corporate policy) --- you can repeat the classes until you and the trainer feel the dog can "graduate". There is no additional charge for repeats.
The socialization aspect is invaluable. One little Chihuahua joined Archie and Willie's class since he was developing dog aggression issues after he had completed the puppy class.
We are going to try the trainer's suggestion of bringing one of them alternately to class to help Archie and Willie with their separation from each other issues.
Their class didn't focus on potty training but the trainer did help with some suggestions for the owners who were having problems with their dogs.
I noticed that they did have a class listed as "potty training" for owners --- but I don't know anything about it since that really has not been a problem for my two.
I'd suggest you do what I did, go to the store when a class is in progress and watch a bit and talk to the trainers --- see if you think they can offer what you want for you and your dog. |
