| Mine sleep in crates in our bedroom all night long. That way if they have to potty I hear them and take them out. Besides they like being with you. |

| Mine sleeps in my room right next to me in a crate too. That way I can comfort him and hear him if he needs to go out. He's actually pretty good though. And in the morning, I lift him out of the crate and his feet don't hit the ground until he's outside cause first thing he has to do is go pee! |

| Good morning! Harry sleeps in his huge crate in our bedroom too, always has done...he seems to like to see and smell us! Strange really - because he HATES it during the day....we don't even have the door on it any more, but he still stays in there at night (from about 10 p.m. until whenever we wake up ) Sally + Harry x |

| When Sasha was a puppy, she slept in a crate right next to my bed until one night she refused to go in and turned around and gave me that pathetic puppy look. Lets just say shes been in my bed with me ever since lol. My parents have a 10 week old puppy and he also sleeps in a crate in their bedroom at night. He'll start barking/whining to wake them up when he has to go. Only downfall is that he absolutely hates his crate right now and protests for a good 20 minutes or so when they first put him in. |

| Also I was probably taking Toki out to tinkle 4 hours or so after putting her to bed in her crate. I remember waking up at 3AM. A LOT. haha You might even set an alarm or something to take your pup out every few hours overnight. If you take your puppy out of his crate every time he whines, he will learn that's how to get your attention (even if he just wants to play in the middle of the night). After having your pup for a little while, you'll be able to better anticipate his needs which will help immensely! I feel like I prolonged the period of time that I was getting up in the middle of the night to take Toki out. Even though she was probably capable of holding her bladder at a certain point, I would just pop out of bed every time she whined or whimpered. Looking back, she probably just wanted to play or come be with us! Good luck! |

| Troy sleeps in his crate all night. Goes in at 1030 and he is ready to potty by 645am. It's clockwork! The crate is small so it's totable. He will either sleep in my daughter's room, my room or the living room. But my suggestion for you is that you should keep the crate in your room so you can hear when he has to potty.

| I got my little girl a week ago. We have her babygated in our front entry with her crate. I know this sounds stupid, but I have been sleeping next to her on the other side of the babygate (on carpet) while she is in her crate. If she wakes up in the middle of the night, she sees me there she goes back to sleep. If I hear her rustling and she's looking at me, I know she has to go potty (like this morning at 4:00 am). And there is no way I'm going outside in the dark (no fenced in back yard), lots of racoons and prairie dogs, so I take her to the kitchen where we have an indoor-outdoor rug and she pees and poops on it (I know, not good, but don't know what else to do, she won't go on a pee pad, thinks its to sleep on) Then I play with her for about an hour and she goes back in her crate and goes back to sleep. (she's in there now sleeping, been sleeping for about an hour its 8:00 am now). And I can't get a harness on her yet to walk or teach her to walk. We're putting up an exercise pen outdoors so I'll be able to take her there, but for now no outside in dark for me (or her) in middle of night. I know her schedule by sleeping beside her, she goes down for the night about 7:30, sleeps sometimes all night, but if she doesn't poop or pee before bed she will get up about 3:00 - 4:00 am. I haven't left her in her crate to leave the house yet, I'm scared to, afraid she will tear up her bed and eat it (she chews everything). Should I put her in her crate with no bedding in it? She is just 12 weeks old now and weighs 3.4 lbs when I took her to vet last week for a puppy check. |

Wouldn't it be easier all round if you were to take the crate into your bedroom? If you're really worried, you could always elevate it... As for leaving her when you go out, what we did was to do it gradually - 10 minutes...15 minutes etc and see what happens. Then you can adjust her bedding arrangements! Good luck, Sally + Harry x | |

| Harrysmum: The crate that I have has her bed on one side and a divider with a pee pad on the other..She sleeps on the pee pad half the night and on her bed the other half, she's not peeing on her pee pad in her crate. Its kinda heavy, and my guy works so hard during the day that I didn't want her to wake him up whining even a little bit, that is why I started laying on the rug next to her in our front entryway. He's going out of town for a couple days, I might try moving the crate into the bedroom next to me while he's gone and see how it works (I haven't slept in my bed for a week! LOL)...So when you leave her for short periods of time, do you take all bedding out? She is a chewing fool, and I'm sure the bed would be ripped to shreds if I wasn't around. |

| Oh you poor thing - you're a very good mummy.... Harry's a TERRIBLE chewer (and escape artist! ) but he's only ever chewed his bed up once, and that was when I actually went out, and he knew he was 'home alone'! How about if, instead of his bed, you put in a big fat towel and/or blankie made into a kind of nest - something that it doesn't matter if she ruins....just for the first couple of times to see how it goes? You maybe could use a towel or something that YOU'VE used, so that your smell's on it? (in the nicest possible way! ) Just a thought.... | I could try a towel, yes, that is a good suggestion. I'll try that first and see what happens, at least she won't be chewing up her new expensive bed I bought her! |

At 10 weeks, just a couple hours, and yes, bring the crate upstairs with you, and keep it next your bed so he can see you
