| I'm sorry you feel attacked and sad over the responses you are getting. People are sharing the TRUTH with you though. Truth is you can't leave a pup that age home alone for so long. Most breeders will ask you who will be responsible for the puppy and I don't know of ANY reputable breeder who would sell you a pup knowing you will be gone 9 hrs out of the day. I don't know why you couldn't wait 3 months to get a pup when your husband is home. Its not even good for the pup to be alone so long he won't have any one to socialize, he will miss his mom and litter mates terribly. There is things you can do to ensure you give your pup the best start but unless you can take time off work those options are not there for you. Your pup may be okay left alone but chances are it WON'T be alright. |

| She is probably not a educated breader and is new at it I'm sure. Its my good friends sister so I know it coming from a good person its just she is probably not educated on the laws. I know this lady means well and is not trying to do anything bad or dishonest. I spoke with her today and she called me back a few hours and told me she was not able to change her flight and if she did it would be like 300$ difference WOWSERZZ!!!! So we just went ahead as planned and she suggested that he should be around his brother that is 2 years older than him (which is my friend dog) so they can be around eachother. Thanks for everyone advice... |

| I feel so sorry for this puppy I could just cry. How sad that he lost his mother so young, and now still just an baby is going on a flight to live in somebody's bathroom alone most of the time. I pray that angels will watch over him because there are some humans here who definitely don't have his best interest at heart.

| NatNatt, Did you say he was coming mid March? Does that mean he will be 6 weeks then, or is he 6 weeks now?

The puppy will need a health certificate from a vet in order to get on that plane. No vet is going to risk his professional license and certify a six week old puppy is eight weeks old. And yes, a vet can tell the age of the puppy by his teeth. No airline is going to allow this puppy to board a flight and violate federal law and risk huge fines. With airport security the way it is, do you honestly think she can sneak the puppy on board? Mothers of infants can't even take formula on board anymore! The two of you are just wasting time and energy planning to fly this puppy on 3/16. Let me use another analogy since you seem to have trouble accepting this. Just because a couple of people plan to rob a bank doesn't mean they can actually pull it off. Ever watch World's Dumbest Criminals? LOL! She screwed up by not checking the law before booking her flight so she will have to pay the $300 penalty. | |

| This whole thing is pretty disgusting... Sounds like this breeder is a PUPPYMILL Obviously there are many pups, past pups, whatever...the Momma dies and even if the Momma was still alive this puppymill breeder would be outing the pups anyway at 6 weeks... It amazes me how A.) stupid people really are and B.) uncaring people really are... To the OP, I really can't understand why you are asking "strangers" for advice on Food and Potty Training for a 6 week old yorkie pup... WHY DON'T YOU ASK THIS BREEDER, OR YOUR FRIEND (HER SISTER) WHO HAS A 2lb. PUP ALREADY FROM THIS PUPPYMILL BREEDER ~ WHO ALSO GOT HER PUP AT 6 WEEKS TOO????? they are the ones "who are the experts here" "they are the ones that should be guiding you..." |

| Hope you read my post - I care too I have been reading over the other posts and they have all given you sound advice. I just hate to see you get your little baby and have something bad happen within days of welcoming her into your home. I got my first yorkie last May and he was 9 weeks old when I got him. I know now that the breeder, while not intentional trying to do anything wrong should not have let the puppy go that soon. My little guy is adorable but it took him awhile to learn how to play with other dogs because he didn't have enough interaction with his litter mates and mother. When I brought him home I took some puppy leave. I would go to work late so that he would only be home 3 hours before my husband got home. It really wasn't bad. I'd go in late and stay later to make up the time. I actually only used about 2 hours vacation each day. After several weeks of this schedule we were lucky enough to have friend come by twice a day - 1x in morning and 1x in afternoon to give him a potty break and play with him awhile and to make sure he ate something so his blood sugar didn't drop. Small puppies have a bad time with that and you can lose them easily if this happens. Did you know that most dogs won't eat when their owner is not home. At least that's the case with my little guy even though we free-feed him. As soon as we get home he gobbles his food right down. Because of how we handled it when he came home, he now has lots of extended family who love him almost as much as we do and when they come to visit he just loves it. Can you work something out with your employer or other family and friends to help you for awhile. This little baby may need you to hand feed for awhile too. As for the other dog, your baby will be much too little to play or stay with a bigger dog unsupervised. I pray and hope that things work out best for you and the puppy. I don't want to see you get a broken heart if something happens to your baby.

| This poor baby has had such a rough life already and what you are doing is only going to add to it. At 6 weeks this puppy does not need to go through the stress of flying and adjusting to a new home so soon after loosing his mother. This is a heartbreaking story as it is and could end up being even more heartbreaking. I honestly hope to God this breeder gets rejected at the airport and is forced to keep this puppy until it is good & ready for a new home. We were uneducated when we got our first puppy and received him at 8 weeks and vet bills alone at 8 weeks were over 3 times the cost of our baby in a matter of 2 months! Not to mention the added stress of having to syringe feed every few hours and keep a constant eye on him. My mom was home 24 hours a day with him. There is no way your baby will be able to be left at home all day even with someone coming by to check on him every few hours. Although we have been free of health issues for almost 2 months now (we purchased Jax in August) he still has behavioral issues that would not be an issue at all if had been with his mother & litter mates until the 12 week mark. You may not like hearing what people here have to say but you have been given the best advice possible on how to take care of this baby by some very knowledgeable members here. I may have missed something in this thread but how are you planning on taking care of this baby even if you are "stuck receiving him" when you will not even be able to be at home?!

| There wasn't a single reply from the OP that didn't irritate me !!! First of all.. WHO CARES if you have to pay a $300 difference to get the puppy shipped to you later on.. it's better to pay that difference then to get free shipping and have the puppy die on you shortly after you get him. I feel very bad for this puppy, because you clearly do not have his best interest at heart.. there have been MANY people that have given you lots of great advice and you have chosen to block it all out and just focus on what you want to hear - the puppy training part- My little baby is almost three months and I can't even imagine leaving him alone for more than 2 hours at home all by himself.. especially not if he would be locked in a bathroom !! What is your puppy stopped eating, how would your neighbours know what to do if his sugar level dropped ! There is a reason why there have been SO many people telling you to wait until the puppy is a little older, people are not trying to attack you they are trying to inform you. That is what yorkie talk is for; wonderful advice from people who ACTUALLY care about their fur babies ! It doesn't matter if the breeder is a "good friend".. she is a very IRRESPONSIBLE breeder and I don't believe for a second that she cares at all about the puppies. She is clearly in it for the money, especially since you said she's sold a puppy at 6 weeks old before. Hopefully you make the right decision, because if anything happened to that puppy I don't know how you'd be able to sleep at night !! You've been given some pretty great advice, I really hope you make the right decision.. I know this post might seem harsh but I just cannot understand why anyone would do this to a puppy

| If it's final that this little one is coming to you then PLEASE read and reread and print out all of the care information everyone here has given you and please get a vet and talk to him / her about caring for a puppy this young. I will keep you and your little furbaby in my prayers.

| It boggles my mind that someone who is engaged to a military man would knowingly try to break both state and federal law. Fortunately, there are systems in place to catch people who attempt illegal interstate transport of live animals. I am quite certain this breeder won't be able to get health certificate from a licensed veterinarian so these would be criminals won't make it to the airport anyway. I wonder if the breeder plans to smuggle the puppy on the airplane in her underwear? |
