Donating YT 11K Club Member | Going #2 on the paper? How do you get them to go #1 AND #2 on the pads? The girls usually will go #1 on the weewee pads but not #2

| I recently went through this with my new addition who was outdoor trained and I wanted him to be able to use pads. He took to peeing on the pad fairly quickly, but for poop, I had to force him. I gauged when he needed to go and then confined him to the back kitchen hallway with 6 pads lined up. Spent the next 20 minutes telling him that it was okay to poop on the pad. Finally, he did it, and I praised him, did the happy dance, and gave him a treat. I showed him how I clean it up immediately and bring it outside -- both my boys love this little ritual. My Teddy is a bit of a dancer, so it took a couple more days for him to learn where to place his back end on a single pad. When he gets it right (which is 100% now), I throw a party -- which he loves. Both my guys prefer a fresh pad to do their "big" business. Hope some of this might help you. Good luck! |

Thor's Human Donating Member | I also noticed recently that Thor wants a pristine pad for his poop. In the morning, we go to both pads so he can pee on each. Then I replace them, he poops on one, I pick that up, and he gets a big treat in exchange. |

| My girls have to walk around a bit. They start on the pad. (Good girls!) Drop a turd-walk on- drop another and by the time it is over they are off of the pad! Any suggestions??? |

Thor's Human Donating Member | Okay, first -- those two doggies are soooo cute! I've had that problem as well. Thor squats on the paper, and then stands up and runs away. If he's managed to fully eject, great. Otherwise... poop on my nice floors. I always keep Nature's Miracle on hand, and once I was confident that Thor understood the command for poop ("BM"), I stopped treating him if he didn't fully make on the pad. I'm pretty sure he's figured it out, because sometimes now when he starts running, he'll pause for just a second, and lets everything fall into place, so to speak. |

My Teddy did the poop on the run thing, but when we changed our diet supplement of sweet peas to green beans, everything started coming out in one nice big piece on the pad. I also have learned to stand still while he is doing his business. If I make a move, he gets nervous and runs. | ||
