I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I use washable pee pads for Joey, and they also are great for cleaning up accidents. You can use an old towel, but don't wash it with things that you don't want to spread the scent to. They also sell super absorbent clothes. Just spay the area place the towel on it, and step on the towel and most of urine comes up. Spray again, this time leaving the spot to dry naturally. It takes time for the enzymes to work. Here's a link with low cost clinics in California. Low Cost Spay/Neuter Resources for California

| Anytime there is a urination concern, a urinalysis needs to be done. If everything is normal, the worst thing that can happen is you will have a current u/a on her which isn't a bad thing at all. Girls do mark and getting her spayed "may" help. There are many dog behaviorists who say dogs do not spite. It may be separation anxiety or just some confusion. Dogs in the wild pee where they want to pee. It's a dog thing. She may just not understand right now.

| the very first thing i will advise you to do is to get it out of your head that the dog is doing anything out of spite to you...dog's are not spiteful to humans, they have no concept of doing something just to piss you off. once you stop thinking that way, you can learn what the actual issue is. i agree with others posting that my #1 concern would be a bladder issue because 3 pees in an hour is a lot of pee and that isn't normal my next piece of advice if it's not a bladder problem would be that you cover your carpets with blankets for the time being and not let her down on the carpets uncovered until she is fully trained. i think you should try and train her to pee outside. it will teach her that it is completely unacceptable to pee anywhere in the house. it's much less confusing for them than potty pads IMO. my Sadie is only 15 weeks old and she can hold her bladder for 8 hours or more, she holds it all night while she sleeps in bed with us, and when we have to be gone for 8 hours which is RARELY, maybe only once every two weeks, she does hold it all day with no use of the pee pads (i had them down only when i was gone for long times) so now she's got free reign of the whole kitchen because she never goes on the floor in the x pen, so i trust her not to ever pee on the floor in there. Sadie still has random accidents on the blankets over our carpet. i still don't know why she does that sometimes when most of the time she barks and runs to the gate and sometimes uses her bell to tell us it's potty time. but it's just part of training. they take a long time to get it...be patient. don't be frustrated with her because she is learning and getting upset will only make her scared of you and tensed up. good luck and i really hope you can continue to teach her and she'll learn to go outside or hold it all day. try using a service bell to teach her to ring it to go out to pee. also for both your sake i pray that it's not a bladder infection...good luck |

I know potty training is frustrating. Baiely has done a backslide , now that your working, she may even be peeing to get your attention !!! Any attention , negative or positive , after a long day of not seeeing u , she might be trying to say to you , HEY , I AM Here, come pay with me. My Suzi is 19 months old. She pees , all over in excitement when children come pet her on our balcony . It is only with kids that she pees. Only once in a while will she do this with an adult. I agree that this could be a medical condition , or she is very happy you are home, and is trying to get your attention. In no way is this out of spite, or revenge . I would start by re training her, and using positive reinforcement, Make it a really big deal when she pees on the pad, and reward her. Spend quality play time with her when you get home, too. Just to let her know you misses her, and you love her. try very hard not to get mad at her, because she will know, and this could be a negative reinforcer for her. Because getting upset with her, she is getting attention .... the pup thinks wow , I peed , now i got HER full attention! Hoooray! You see, it is a vicious cycle.

| We also found when we removed the carpet the training is going a lot better. Hard to see the spot sometimes if it is on a patterned rug and they have a nose for any tiny pee spot. Also we keep Tommy and Jackson in the kitchen closed in with a pee pad and it seems to help to have the pup in a smaller location when we are not able to watch him. Have to say as well I had a poodle many years ago and if we left her alone she would pull plants out of their pots and pee and poop. That is just if I went to the store as I was home with the kids then.Even if I would not let her come into the bedroom she would run downstairs and do something just for attention. All the best of luck with her |

Sounds like she does not "get" what it is you want her to do outside. Please do not think she is doing this on purpose. That will lead to you wanting to punish her .. and even saying bad girl is what I am referring to. She will be getting attention...even though it is negative. Try your level best to avoid doing that. Leash walk her and take her to one spot each time. Do not make it an outing where she is having fun! When she does piddle there (she will if you keep taking her there), then heap tons of praise on her...give her a treat and take her back in the house. These pups must have lots and lots of positive reinforcement!! Make potty time and play time two different issues!
